UPDATE! Since last week, we’ve had an exciting addition to our tour schedule: Denver, CO! Yates will be back on the road starting this October for our annual Movie Shows & Camp Reunions, and he’s planning to visit 13 different cities.

He’ll be traveling to the homes of camp families to reconnect with alumni, show the Falling Creek Camp Movie, and help interested families learn more about camp.

Bring a friend, make some new ones, and reunite with old ones! Alumni from any year are also welcome to attend these Movie Shows & Camp Reunions. This is a great time to have questions answered and meet other campers if you’re thinking about joining us in 2027, or to catch up with camp friends if you’re an alumni.

Parents, staff, and alumni, look for an invite in your email soon and RSVP to the host for your city. Inquiries may be sent to [email protected] or call our camp office (828-692-0262) if you have any questions. See more details at fallingcreek.com/my-fcc/travel-calendar

We hope to see you at one of these Movie Shows & Camp Reunions!

We’re excited to welcome Dan Horseman to the year-round Falling Creek team as Outdoor Adventure Director!

Many of you have already met Dan this past summer, as he joined several outdoor adventure trips as a “guest pro.” Before joining Falling Creek, Dan was already dedicating his life to empowering youth and guiding outdoor experiences, working as an adventure guide for a local nonprofit, a certified professional life coach, and as the adventure therapy director for a residential treatment center for high school students.

Dan is a Certified Professional Life Coach (CLCI), ACA L4 Whitewater Kayak Instructor, AMGA Single Pitch Instructor, and Wilderness First Responder. He is also trained in Swiftwater Rescue, is a Wilderness Lifeguard, and is a Leave No Trace Trainer.

His favorite way to spend an afternoon is paddling down a river—whether tackling a whitewater kayaking adventure or enjoying a more relaxed family canoe trip with his wife and their two boys. As an avid outdoorsman, Dan also finds time to rock climb, ride bikes, and hike. In 2013, he completed a through-hike of the Appalachian Trail.

Dan’s passion for outdoor adventure and sharing it with future generations is what brought him to Falling Creek, in addition to the love he has for camp’s culture and community. Dan is a compassionate coach and mentor who believes that each individual can unlock their full potential through facing new challenges, and exploring what those experiences teach us about ourselves.

We would also like to thank Will Wilson for all that he brought to Falling Creek while serving in this role for the past 3 years. Will is starting his own outdoor education and professional training organization, American Mountain Academy, based locally in Western North Carolina. We wish him the best in his newest adventure!

We’re thrilled to have so many camp families signing up for next summer after the 2027 enrollment opened last week! New to summer camp? Our one-week Junior Camp session is a great place to start.

This video shows you what to expect at Junior Camp, explained by Junior Campers themselves!

A few sessions are already starting to reach capacity, so if you’re thinking about joining us in 2027 (especially for Junior Camp!) we encourage you to submit your application at fallingcreek.com. Session deposits are fully refundable until January 15th.

Junior Camp is six days long, designed for boys who have never been to camp before, and are looking for a shorter “starter camp” session. Campers will have the opportunity to sample about 16-18 traditional activities together with their cabin group. Helping boys have fun and build confidence away from home is the central focus.

We’re already looking forward to the 2027 summer!

The FCC Campership Fund has a new look! Introducing the “Pass the Light Fund” 🕯️

The fund’s new name illustrates how the transformative experience of camp can be passed on to boys who otherwise couldn’t afford it. Each gift becomes an act of passing that “light” to the next boy, just as we share our light during Candlelight Campfire.

This year, camp families can choose to donate any portion of their unused camp store balance to the “Pass the Light Fund” to provide camp scholarships. Don’t forget that if you intend to donate your refundable balance, the deadline to let us know is by the end of day tomorrow (Friday 08/28). You can do so by completing the form in your email.

This donor-advised fund is made possible through the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina, and boys are selected by a board of alumni and camp parents (the Pass the Light Fund Committee) following an application process.
