New York, 10 August 2026
The International Turon Federation (ITF) and the International Kurash Association (IKA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding establishing a framework for long-term cooperation between the two organisations.
The Memorandum was signed at the headquarters of the International Turon Federation, located in the World Trade Center complex in Manhattan, New York City.
The ITF delegation was led by President Mr. Farrukh Niyazimbetov, together with members of the Executive Board, legal counsel and international partners. The IKA was represented by Acting President Mr. Ziyoviddin Khodjiniyazov and Sports Committee member Mr. Daniel Abayev.
Discussions focused on the international development of both disciplines, expanding their geography, and creating pathways for Turon and Kurash to enter the programmes of major multi-sport events.
A key outcome was the decision to hold the first joint international event featuring both Turon and Kurash in Manhattan, New York, in October 2026.
“Sport is the pillar of a healthy nation, a healthy society, an ambassador of peace, and a source of national pride for every country,” — H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Turon and Kurash were born on the same land. Their meeting in New York is less a beginning than a continuation.
