Nail Bay Sports Club

On Monday, we celebrated the End of Year Party for our Nail Bay Sports Club Junior Tennis Program — a fun-filled afternoon of tennis, speeches, swimming, and plenty of food and drinks at Sugarcane Restaurant.

Now in its fourth year, this program has provided weekly tennis sessions for students from Bregado Flax Elementary and High School and Ciboney Centre of Excellence.

We’re proud to continue nurturing a love for the sport and supporting the growth of youth tennis in our community. We couldn’t do it without the generosity of Beverly Nuckols and the late, great Larry Nuckols. Here’s to many more years of inspiring the next generation on and off the court!

Thank you to all those that joined us from Tortola Sports Club, British Virgin Islands at the weekend for some fantastic squash and tennis. We loved hosting and look forward to plenty more hard fought inter-island tournaments. We will be crossing the channel and coming to you for the next installment!

🎾Tortola Sports Club, British Virgin Islands v Nail Bay Sports Club - April 27th

Despite forecasts of torrential rain and possible monsoons, six hardy tennis doubles teams from TSC braved the troubled seas to take on the much young pretenders of Nail Bay Sports Club.

After a fun filled very competitive and evenly matched tournament TSC ultimately brought home the win 🏆

Chris Aldridge and Dominic Bufton won Group A for NBSC. Buddy Salvador and Hazele Valenzuela prevailed in Group B for TSC and, with a late surge, the “Spring Chickens” Ken Adamson and Chris Smith ran away with Group C ( after years of Cedar School education, NBSC had the gaul to question Le Bron’s tabulation! 😬😄).

Since it was past Ken’s bedtime and Sandra whisked him away, Buddy and Hazele took on Chris and Dom. After a hard fought match, Buddy and Hazele came out on top 💪

The “Coldwell Banker Challenge B**g Trophy”- TSC vs NBSC - therefore belongs to Tortola Sports Club, where it will reside until the re match at TSC sometime later this year 🏆

Prizes were also awarded as follows:

Matt Crossman - NBSC : most ridiculous tennis outfit (should have been banned!)

Lucienne Smith and Darina Hiemstra - TSC won a prize each for both having carried the most hopeless partner all day long in Peter Clatworthy and Simon Hiemstra respectively 😁.

Finally, the prize for having left most blood, sweat and tears on the court, quite literally, went to Mark Doig, Dom Bufton and Jamie Sedawie🤕

The day was finished with an exhibition match between Buddy and Le Bron (TSC) and Maarten and Scott (NBSP). Le Bron left them all on the floor.

Come and watch this Sunday our Mixed Handicap Squash Tournament and Professionals in Action at 10:00 am in our air-conditioned squash courts.

We have Women’s Caribbean # 1 Margot Plow alongside England # 5 Under 19 Emma Bartley, Men’s Former World # 76 Adam Murrills and Men’s Former World # 10 and Commonwealth Gold Medal winner Joe Kneipp.

Nail Bay Sports Club and Bregado Flax Primary and Secondary schools are now in the third year of the ‘Nail Bay Junior Tennis Program’. We love working with these great kids and we look forward to many more years to come.

Our junior tennis program gives kids from 7-14 yrs old an introduction to tennis. We run three classes, free of charge with transportation provided from Ciboney and Bregado Flax schools.

Our Kids Tennis classes are held on Friday afternoons at 4:00 pm & 4:20 pm for ages ranging from 3 - 10.
