We now have 7 SYM Shark 50cc motorbikes.
They are 100% legal to drive even without a license.

Yes, they can do HCM to Hanoi and even the Ha Giang loop! All be it, very slowly.

I will be in Vietnam mid September to make content on these beasts. Need to choose an area of the country to drive. Ha Giang? Seems a bit cliche for someone like me. But maybe!

This Mekong Delta tour is designed for those who really want to immerse themselves in the culture, food and lifestyle of the Mekong. The Mekong looks small on a map, but it isn't, and this is our best route to really give you the full experience.

Lets all join Levinz on his 6 day Mekong Delta tour

For real though, I properly delegated this section of the country down to Levinz because it just doesn't sit with me.

-Flat
-Hot
-Food
-Culture

Nothing in that list ticks any boxes for me.

But for many: Those are the golden tick boxes and it has taken some 10 years for me to figure that out.

The Mekong Delta is a surprisingly large chunk of Vietnam and takes a huge amount of time to research. Through the years:
- I have done around 4 research projects down there and given up
- Tigit Sam back in the day tried and did around 5 days and gave up
- Now Levinz has taken over and done around 3 days, then 6 days, then 6 days, then another 5 days. Alot really. Master of the Mekong!

I am finally happy that Tigit has truly mastered the Mekong. Not for show anymore.
Which bits to drive, which bits not to drive. All that kind of stuff.

It remains a section of the country that lacks cliff edges and things like that. It is more about culture, not motorbikes. Hence why I could never figure it out. But Levinz loves this sort of travel.

For the Mekong though, I will remain (for now) to keep the routes offline. This is primarily because it is so easy for other tour companies to steal all the R and D we do on route research.

In other areas of Vietnam the routes we create go outside the comfort zone of a normal tour company. So they don't want to copy our ridiculous routes anyway. But the Mekong, being a more "touristy" side of what we are doing, is much easier to copy + paste.

Well done Levinz for making this happen!

Think that lightweight pair of adventure boots is enough for your next off-road trip? Think again. When a 200kg motorcycle goes down, a flexible boot simply won't cut it. Real-world experience shows that the most frequent and severe injuries on guided tours happen to riders who opt for standard ADV boots rather than high-end motocross gear.

Protecting your ankles and legs is just as critical as choosing the right helmet. Beyond the crucial boot advice, this deep dive covers the essential gear list for motorcycle travelers—from packing the right protective layers and knee braces to organizing tools and tech for the long haul. Get the gear setup right before heading out, because when the rubber leaves the road, specialized protection is the only thing standing between an adventure and a hospital visit.

When a machine is so impressive that it convinces a rider to sell their KTM 350, you know it’s something special. For anyone operating in the 150cc class, the Yamaha WR155 has earned a reputation as the ultimate dual-purpose machine, handling everything from technical off-road trails to daily road riding with ease. It’s rare to find a bike that earns such fierce loyalty from experienced riders, but this legendary lightweight continues to prove its worth globally. Whether navigating Southeast Asia or exploring backroads elsewhere, this is the bike that keeps enthusiasts coming back for more.

Looks can be deceiving, especially when it comes to picking the right bike for Vietnamese roads. Many riders gravitate toward the Honda Winner X, thinking it’s the approachable, smaller alternative to the daunting XR150. But there’s a hidden catch: this deceptive little machine packs a serious punch. With a twitchy, race-ready clutch and surprising power, it’s far from the easy ride most beginners expect.

For anyone navigating the complex world of buying a motorbike in Vietnam—whether as a traveler, expat, or local—this breakdown cuts through the confusion. From comparing touring capabilities to debating semi-automatic vs. manual transmissions and finding the most reliable workhorses for the terrain, this guide offers the honest truth about what you're actually getting yourself into before you twist the throttle.

Today I launched a reddit page. I (Tigit Jon) will personally reply to all messages and queries on there for what that's worth.

The aim here is to provide high quality Q and A that is searchable for people in the present and future.
Too much is getting lost on useless social media platforms these days.

I will also be throwing my in-depth discussion thoughts about Vietnam, Nepal and of course motorbikes as well.
Made a post about 50cc motorbikes just now.

Basically whatever is currently running through my mind!
