Excellent advice from 3-times major winner and Irish golfing legend Pádraig Harrington.
Young golfers do not need constant technical instruction. They need enjoyment, movement, confidence, and time to develop.
Children improve fastest when they feel safe making mistakes and enjoy the process.
This philosophy is at the core of what we do at Masterswing Golf Vietnam.

Stop 3-Putting: It’s Strategy, Not Just Technique ⛳️
Most golfers think 3-putting is caused by poor technique. In reality, it is usually poor speed control and a lack of zone awareness.
To lower your scores, you need to understand the percentages based on distance:
🔴 Zone 1 (Inside 6 feet)
This is the scoring zone. Even PGA Tour players make only around 70% from here.
When facing a long putt, this circle should become your target area.
🟡 Zone 2 (6–20 feet)
Make percentages drop significantly to around 15–40%.
From this range, the goal is simple: secure the 2-putt. Great lag putting matters more than chasing a perfect read.
🟢 Zone 3 (20+ feet)
This is where most 3-putts happen. Make percentage falls below 12%, so trying to hole everything becomes dangerous.
Speed control is the key. Your objective is to roll the ball safely into Zone 1 and leave an easy second putt.
The Takeaway ⛳️
Most amateurs 3-putt because they focus too much on making long putts instead of controlling distance. Elite putters understand that speed control saves more strokes than perfect alignment.
Lag it close. Eliminate stress. Lower scores.

How To Master Your Driver: Tee Height Matters ⛳️
Want to hit longer, straighter drives?
One of the simplest ways to control your ball flight is by adjusting your tee height.
✅ For a Draw
Tee the ball slightly higher so that at least half of the ball sits above the top edge of the driver.
✅ For a Straight Shot
Position the ball so the middle of the ball aligns with the centre of the clubface.
✅ For a Fade
Lower the tee height slightly to encourage a fading ball flight.
Small adjustments can make a big difference.
No golf course? No problem.
You can still improve your swing, contact, and confidence with simple drills at home in just 10 minutes a day.

Most golfers don’t struggle with effort — they struggle with direction.
The difference often comes down to one thing: club path.
This visual shows three key patterns:
• Inside-Out (draw tendency)
• Neutral (Inside-Square-Inside)
• Outside-In (fade/slice tendency)
When players understand this early, everything changes. Ball flight starts to make sense. Practice becomes more purposeful.
At Masterswing Golf Vietnam, we simplify these concepts so our students can see it, feel it, and apply it — not just guess.

Outstanding achievement from Ely (BIS HCMC)! 🏆
Huge congratulations to Ely on winning Overall Girls Nett Champion at the FOBISIA Golf Championship 2026 in the Philippines last weekend.
This is a fantastic result and a real reflection of her hard work, commitment, and ability to perform under pressure.
Progress like this doesn’t happen by chance — it’s built through consistent practice, the right structure, and a love for the game.
Very proud to be part of your journey, Ely. Keep going ⛳
Never stop a golf lesson, even for Monsoon-like weather! 🌧️⛱️

CONTACT. ENTRY. LOW POINT. EXIT.
Most golfers obsess over where the club hits the ball.
Elite golfers understand where the club hits the ground.
The difference? Low point control.
In an iron shot:
• The club enters the turf after the ball
• The low point is in front of the ball
• Then the club exits shallow and forward
If your divot starts behind the ball, your low point is behind it. That’s where thin shots, heavy shots, and inconsistent strike live.
Great ball striking isn’t about lifting the ball — it’s about controlling the bottom of the arc.
With my junior players, we train:
✔️ Forward pressure
✔️ Proper weight shift
✔️ Shaft lean at impact
✔️ Low point awareness
Strike first. Turf second. Every time.

This is why adapted golf clubs are a game-changer for young kids like Amy (6 years old) 👧⛳️
With clubs designed for her size, Amy can learn the fundamentals properly:
✔️ Putting
✔️ Chipping
✔️ Pitching
✔️ Full swing
No heavy clubs. No bad habits. Just natural movement, solid contact, and early success.
When kids learn the right way first, transferring those skills to traditional golf clubs is easy later on.
Most importantly?
They love it — and that’s how lifelong golfers are made.
So proud of this young golfer 👏⛳
Ely, 10 years old, has made incredible progress with her golf swing over the past six months. Her improvement is a great reminder of what young players can achieve with the right guidance, encouragement and structure.
Her balance is better, her contact is more consistent and most importantly — she’s growing in confidence every time she steps up to the ball. These changes don’t happen by accident. They come from learning good fundamentals early, training at the right pace, and enjoying the process.
Working with young golfers like Ely is one of the most rewarding parts of my job. I love helping junior players develop not just better swings, but a real love for the game. Every child learns differently and my focus is always on building solid technique while keeping lessons fun, positive, and motivating.
If you’re looking for coaching that truly nurtures young golf talent — technically, mentally, and emotionally — I’d love to help your child start their journey the right way.
The future of golf is bright 🌟

Coaching Golf in Primary Schools: My Experience
Coaching golf to children in primary schools has been one of the most enjoyable and rewarding experiences of my golf coaching journey. What often begins as a simple PE session quickly turns into something much more meaningful for both the children and myself.
Many of the pupils I coach have never held a golf club before. I remember one first lesson where a group of students arrived unsure and slightly disengaged. Within minutes of introducing my Junior Golf Pathway Programme via games—aiming at targets, working in teams and celebrating effort rather than results—the atmosphere completely changed. Laughter replaced hesitation, and every child wanted another turn.
One moment that stands out involved a particularly shy student who initially refused to participate. Instead of pushing, I allowed her to observe while encouraging small steps. By the end of the lesson, she volunteered to demonstrate a swing to the class. The smile on their face after receiving applause from her fellow students was a reminder of how powerful a supportive sporting environment can be.
Another memorable experience was watching children begin to support one another. During a putting challenge, one group struggled to complete the task. Rather than giving up, they started offering encouragement and advice to teammates. Seeing primary school children naturally develop teamwork and communication through golf is incredibly rewarding.
Coaching at this level also comes with challenges. Keeping attention, managing high energy levels and adapting drills on the spot is part of every lesson. I once had a class that found it difficult to stay focused, so I turned a technical drill into a competitive relay-style game. Engagement immediately improved and the children learned without realising they were practising golf fundamentals.
Beyond physical skills, my Junior Golf Pathway Programme helps children develop confidence, discipline and respect. Teachers often comment on how students who struggle with focus in the classroom show strong concentration during my golf lessons. These small observations reinforce the value of sport-based learning.
Overall, coaching golf in primary schools has strengthened my belief that sport is about far more than technique or scores. It is about creating positive experiences, building confidence and giving children a chance to succeed in a fun and inclusive environment. Being part of that journey has been a genuinely rewarding experience. Long may it continue!
