Our final conclusion about the 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚 𝐗𝐑 𝟏𝟓𝟎𝐋 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓! We put it to the test on some aggressive dual-sport terrain. The "innovations" barely make a difference, it's pretty much the same legendary bike.

This time, Renzo, Dang and our friend Shun took 2 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚 𝐗𝐑𝟏𝟓𝟎 and a Suzuki DRZ400 to search for new routes, after our usual off road playground had nearly disappeared due to the Long Thanh Airport construction.
And we found them.

In only half a day, we hit it all: 𝐣𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬, 𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐧 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬, 𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐡 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐜𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐬, 𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐤𝐲 𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧 𝐜𝐨𝐰𝐬 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝. Add in some 𝐟𝐮𝐧 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐚𝐥𝐬 and a few “𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐜𝐤” situations, and the adventure became truly unforgettable.

⚡This is the most suitable bike for Vietnam for knowledgeable motorbike enthusiasts. While several foreigners are well used to larger displacement bikes such as the famous (or infamous in my opinion) BMW GS, large displacement bikes are not very suitable for Vietnamese roads and traffic conditions. The CB500X is just the right size allowing you to enjoy well paved roads and mountain passes at cruising speeds, while being able to tackle the broken roads and unavoidable off-road sections you will see whether you want it or not.

🚀 Vietnam is a country made to enjoy 150-300kms rides per day, not a lot more than that in the local traffic and road conditions. The CB500X covers these distances with enough comfort and you don’t need bigger. When it comes to parking, small maneuvers, ferries, etc. A 200kgs bike works a lot better than a 300kgs one. I wouldn’t recommend anything bigger to cruise and discover Vietnam.

In this journey, 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐳𝐨 guided a group of guests with little off-road experience to explore the trails around Saigon. The terrain ranged from muddy puddles and slippery soil to rocky paths, leaving beginners confused and unable to avoid a few falls.

However, as the ride went on, everyone gradually became more familiar with the terrain and riding techniques. Skidding wheels and mud stains quickly turned into thrilling challenges for those who love adventure.

🔥 Last weekend 𝐑𝐞𝐧𝐳𝐨 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐃𝐚𝐧𝐠 took our XR’s for an off-road exploration tackling the famous 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐍𝐚𝐢 𝐋𝐨𝐨𝐩, a short enough distance from Saigon. Our friend 𝐒𝐡𝐮𝐧 came along with his DRZ 400 for a funny comparison between the capacity of 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐃𝐑𝐙 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐗𝐑.

🏍 Long story short, the XR holds and its legend is very much alive. While the DRZ had its occasional starting up issues…
