Our Story

Welcome to “The Ranch”/Horse Sanctuary

Where you can indulge your “cowboy spirit”.

“The Ranch” is situated at Suranda Bay the beautiful east coast of Espiritu Santo, approximately 10 minutes drive from the town of Luganville.

Our Horse Trails begin with the unique experience of arriving at our rustic western style Ranch by air-conditioned 4WD vehicle. Before saddling up, Megan will assess your riding skills and select a horse appropriate to your ability.

Your complimentary freshly cut coconut are available after the trail.

Toilet facilities are available for your convenience, before and after the trail.


Safety

Our horses are safe and gentle enough for first time riders and enjoyable for experienced riders.

The Ranch only rides in small groups of up to 6 riding guests, so you can be assured of feeling perfectly looked after during our trail ride.

Horse and rider safety are a consideration at all times and the wearing of safety helmets are (provided) .

Prior to our trail ride, a short safety session will be held at our Ranch to familiarize riders to their horses and western saddles.


Our Trail

Santo is still very much in its natural state and what better way to experience the pristine beauty that abounds on this island than by horseback. Our ride starts on the property from our Creek Trail through the Tropical Rain Forest, crossing the flowing freshwater river onto the pristine white sand beach. You will pass through a typical Melanesian style village and get up close and personal with the native culture and famous Santo cattle ...also viewing the horse sanctuary....

Our trails range from 1 to 2 hours or we can customize our trail to suit your requirements.

Please respect our horses; they do have the strength, speed and ability to cause injury. The Ranch tries its utmost to ensure your safety and enjoyment.

Please note that you the rider have chosen at your own risk to experience this adventure, hence a signed waiver liability form is a requirement.
Minimum age required –6 years and upwards.


Our Horses and Staff
Our staff have been carefully selected and trained to take the best possible care of our horses and of course, you. Each horse is part of our steadily growing family.

• Helmets provided
• Pick up /drop of from your place of accommodation
• Western saddles are used so shorts can be worn
• Pony rides for the children
