SBF Independence Tournament 2026 Results

Our players had very little time to train and build chemistry with their teams or doubles partners, but that's one of the unique beauties of badminton. All it takes is knowing the game, being fit to compete, having the skills, and finding a way to work together on court. Sometimes, it's simply a matter of discovering who can bring out the best in each other.
This tournament was also a great reminder that while competition is important, enjoying every moment is just as valuable. After all, one of the most important mottos of our badminton family is simple: "Have fun."
A massive congratulations to all our senior and junior players for giving your absolute best on the court. Your hard work, determination, and effort did not go unnoticed. It was especially inspiring to see some of our juniors, whom we rarely see on court, step up and perform exceptionally well. You truly impressed us and showed that the talent is still there.
Thank you to everyone who participated, supported, and helped make our 2026 Independence Tournament another memorable and successful event. We look forward to seeing our badminton family continue to grow, improve, and most importantly, enjoy the sport we all love.

Our 64th Independence Badminton Tournament has officially concluded.

As our first tournament of the year, this event holds a special place in our calendar as we proudly celebrate the Independence of our beloved Samoa. Since its inception in 2022, this tournament has become a meaningful tradition for our badminton family, and we remain committed to keeping it alive for many years to come.
Over the past few years, our badminton community has faced challenges in securing a stable venue. The temporary closure of our only suitable facility for the sport made it difficult to maintain regular activities. However, after seven long months, we were grateful to finally return to the courts and reunite as one family.

This year's tournament was filled with exciting matches, fierce competition, and unforgettable moments. Every player gave their best, making each game challenging and enjoyable to watch. Beyond the competition, the smiles, laughter, and camaraderie shared throughout the event reminded us of what makes our badminton family so special. As one of our players beautifully said, “It is only during tournaments that we get to see everyone together at once and reconnect with faces we hardly get to see.”

This event would not have been possible without the incredible efforts of our dedicated team. A sincere thank you to our Tournament Director, Mr. Ronaldo Mercado, for coordinating the schedules and fixtures; our Vice President Lizzie Key Cafferelli for arranging venue furniture and tournament equipment; our Treasurer Peta Francis Te'o, for serving as our key liaison and point of communication with SASNOC; and our Secretary, Tauala Wilma Tupu, the youngest member of our Board, whose court setup efforts were made possible with the wonderful support of her parents and siblings, the King family.
We also extend our heartfelt fa'afetai to our prize sponsors Sunny Sun and Michael Xue, whose generosity helped make this 64th Independence Tournament both memorable and rewarding for all participants.

Finally, thank you to all our supporters, parents, and players. Special recognition goes to our three brave junior players Danilei Rasmussen, Carlo Caffarelli and Handel Tupu who stepped up to challenge themselves against senior competitors. Your courage, determination, and willingness to learn are truly inspiring. With a little fun, a lot of dedication, commitment, and discipline, we continue to move closer to our goals.

May God continue to guide and bless our badminton family throughout the year as we work towards a successful future and the many plans ahead.
Until the next tournament, our social badminton sessions remain open to everyone. We look forward to seeing you on the courts.

Faafetai lava and stay blessed.
