Malo! Malo! Malo!
The much-anticipated FARMER JOE LTD JF2M-8 , the eighth tournament of our Junior Fish to the Max (JF2M) 2026 season was held two weeks ago on Saturday 19th September 2026.

Tournament Round-up:
The tournament saw a return to the Niafane Ramp out at Utualli where 8 boats and 16 junior anglers competed. Our young fishers brought in a total of 43 fish, weighing an impressive 50kgs! The Prize Giving that followed was a massive highlight. With so many amazing prizes on offer and the delicious catered food, you could have easily mistaken it for the International Tournament’s Prize Giving.

Results:
🥇 The day’s spoils went to Team Selesetina who took advantage of the calm conditions before the wind picked up to end the day with a tournament-high 14 fish and 18.30kgs total weight. Team anglers Han Hansell, Klaudia Lui and Seuifanua Penn were kept busy and the latter was later rewarded as the Top Angler and also winner of the Biggest Fish of the day award.

🥈 In second place was Team Young Fins, securing their third podium finish of the season. Cousins Honor Chewlit and Achilleus Sofe combined well for 5 and 4 fish respectively for a solid haul weighing 10.35kgs. Honor also secured the second place Angler and second place Biggest Fish awards.

🥉 Third place went to the ever-consistent Team Lady Beavers, with the previous tournament winners catching 7 fish for 7.25kgs. Despite running into some engine problems early on, young anglers Ayden Slade and Mason Vaai still managed to get them on the podium for the 5th straight tournament this season.

The Seventh Tournament of our Junior Fish to the Max (JF2M) 2026 season was held in August on Saturday 22nd August 2026 and was kindly sponsored by: SIGNS STUDIO LTD!!

Tournament Round up:
The tournament was launched from the SIGFA Ramp and saw 8 boats competing with a total of 18 junior anglers. A total of 34 fish were caught weighing a total of 39kgs.

Results:
Team Lady Beavers continued their strong form by claiming their second tournament win this season. With the fishing not as busy as the earlier tournaments this season, the team of cousins Mason Vaai and Ayden Slade did enough with their 7.70kg haul to hold off a strong challenge from Team Baby Blue.

Only 0.65kg was in it between the top 2 boats as Team Baby Blue had to settle for second place and register their first podium finish this season. Bianca Caffarelli finished as the Top Angler of the day and was supported by older sister and fellow angler Adrianna.

Third place went to Team Selesetina with anglers Han Hansell, Klaudia Lui and Seuifanua Penn combining for 6 fish that weighed 6.25kgs to round out the podium finishers.

Malo! Malo! Malo!

The sixth tournament of our Junior Fish to the Max (JF2M) 2026 season was held last month on Saturday 11th July 2026 and was kindly sponsored by: APIA MARINE SERVICES!!

Tournament Round up:
The tournament was launched from the SIGFA Ramp and saw 9 boats competing with a total of 23 junior anglers. A total of 56 fish were caught weighing a total of 73kgs.

Results:
Team Teugata came up with the goods on what was a rather slow day at the office going by usual JF2M standards, winning by the slimmest of margins - just 0.35kg. With an average of 6 fish per boat, Team Teugata caught a tournament-high 12 fish weighing a combined 13.65kgs thanks to sole angler Teugata Rasmussen, making a welcome return from school break in New Zealand. Team assistance came from big sister Eseta as deckie and dad Michael as skipper.

Second place could not be separated as season pace setters Team Selesetina and Team Lady Beavers had to settle for a tie at 13.30kgs combined weight from their totals which also came from the same number of fish at 9 apiece. The anglers included siblings Ayden and Evanee Slade from Team Lady Beavers and cousins Han Hansell, Klaudia Lui, Ataatasina and Seuifanua Penn from Team Selesetina.

LEGENDS Fish to the Max (FTTM) #3 2026 Season

Tournament Recap
The Highly anticipated LEGENDS 2026 FTTM saw 10 boats enter and compete. After being postponed twice because of bad weather, the committee decided to run the LEGENDS in tough but doable conditions. This showed grit and experience with the Skippers and their crews that braved the day. There were different strategies as some teams went wide after Bill fish and Masimasi while some other teams stayed closer to the inshore reefs chasing Spanish mackerel and GTs.
A total of 18 fish were caught consisting of Sailfish, Masimasi, Wahoo, Spanish Mackerel, GTs and Dogtooth Tuna. Our usual BBQ after at the club was filled with fun, laughs and stories of the one that got away. Bruce lead our prizegiving formalities and speaking a little about our Legends whom have gone before us and their hard work in starting up and running our SIGFA CLUB in the earlier years.

RESULTS
1st Place – SEALORD - Capt Zac Meredith
Even though Zac and deckie Kiel started out around 10am, they managed to secure the win when they double hooked on Sailfish. They managed to catch and release them both in healthy condition. This secured them 100 points, but that wasn’t enough as this dynamic duo wanted to put the nail in the coffin by landing a masimasi before heading back in. They had a total score of 106.3. This win has secured Sealord back to back wins as they also won the last FTTM #2 competition. Sealord took home 1st prize of $1,500 and a JB Lure. Unfortunately they didn’t buy their boat for the Calcutta so Cisco won the $950 tala Calcutta prize. Malo Sealord

2nd Place – KATIE – Capt Henry Penn
With 3 generations on board, Katie was always going to be a contender on the day with Magele (experience), Henry(skills and good looks) and Seuifanua “Mambo” with the muscles. Katie fished mostly along the inshore reefs and managed to catch Spanish Mackerel and GTs. Mambo bringing in the biggest fish caught for the day. A whopper 12.1 kg GT. Mambo also released another good size GT. Katie won $1,000 tala 2nd place prize, $600 tala Calcutta prize and a JB Lure. Malo Katie

3rd Place –CYCLONE – Capt Trevor Meredith
Like a dormant Volcano waiting to erupt, Cyclone erupted on Saturday. Welcome back Trevor. With some early catches in the morning, Cyclone was in the lead for most part of the day up until 3 hours to cut off time. With some Masimasi and Spanish on board, Trevor, Karla, Rhonda and Damien secured 3rd place. Unlucky with the dropped bill fish but it’s good to have the team back. Cyclone won $750 tala + $400 tala Calcutta and a JB Lure. Malo Cyclone

Malo! Malo! Malo!

The fifth tournament of our Junior Fish to the Max (JF2M) 2026 season was held two weeks ago on the Saturday 20th June 2026 and was kindly sponsored by: BLUE STEEL WELDING & FABRICATION!!

Tournament Round up:
The tournament was launched out of the Niafane Transport Ramp at Utualii and saw 10 boats competing with a total of 22 junior anglers. A total of 96 fish were caught weighing a total of 114kgs.

Results:
The day’s spoils went to none other than the sponsor of the day, Team Lady Beavers, who dominated the field with a combined catch weight of 20.80kgs. The impressive performance marked their maiden JF2M Series win after three runner-up finishes so far this season. Their two anglers, cousins Mason Vaai and Ayden Slade also took out the Top Angler and Second Top Angler awards respectively to cap off the milestone victory. Congrats to Skipper Douglas Slade and deckie Alex Vaai for the great team performance.

In second place was Team Teine Manono with a mere 0.18kg behind and a tournament-high 18 fish caught. With the boys representing the 2025 season winners this tournament, anglers Kaleb Meredith and Kody Roepke managed to get 2 caught & released fish each with Teddy Wilson also releasing one to go with the unlucky 13 that found the bottom of the cooler.

Rounding out the podium finishers in third place, was Team Selesetina, who had anglers Klaudia Lui, Han Hansell, Mason Malifa and Seuifanua Penn contribute to a dozen fish which was just enough at a combined 14.72kgs to see off a strong effort from Team Battle Truck with their combined catch weight of 14.63kgs in fourth place.

Tournament Recap
The fourth leg of the 2026 JF2M Season brought out 9 boats and 20 junior anglers on what turned out to be a very fishy day indeed as shown by the overall stats: 90 Fish caught (70% more than the previous tournament) for a Total fish weight 118 kgs! The day also welcomed the debut of a new boat & crew, team "Hoodlum". Congratulations Cpt Papalii Francisco Caffarelli on the new addition to our fleet. The tournament remains competitive as teams that did well earlier on struggled this tournament as the other teams took the top half of the leaderboard.

Results
🥇1st Place – Selesetina
The day saw the former Champ Selesetina guided by their trusty skipper Tutaia Henry hit their stride and brought in a haul that would make any fishing team proud. They’ve been creeping up the ladder, placing 3rd at the last tournament and really turned it on this time. Their total haul of 37.38kgs made up with 29 fish caught was double the haul of the 2nd placed team and surely kept the captain and crew extremely busy on the day. They also managed to discover the part of the ocean where all the Barracuda live! While they didn’t feature in the Biggest Fish category honours, they took out 1st (Klaudia Lui – 18 fish) and 2nd (Seuifanua “Mambo” Penn – 11 fish) spot in the Top Anglers placements with massive total kgs tallies. With this win, Team Selesetina sit comfortably at the top of the table with some breathing room.

🥈2nd Place – Lady Beavers
This team has been quietly climbing the ladder and secured 2nd place in this tournament. They are certainly showing real signs of threat to the leaderboard and in fact with this placing also secured 2nd placing overall in the season so far. They are not the biggest boat but certainly found some great spots for fishing on this day. Dougie masterfully steered his team in the way of fish and managed to haul a total of 18.52 kgs with the workload shared equally by Mason Vaai (7 fish) and young Ayden Slade (7 fish). Like the winning team, their anglers did not feature in the Biggest Fish category and had to inch their way into 2nd place but they did manage to sn**ch 3rd place in the overall Top Angler standing with Mason Vaai coming in 3rd.

🥉3rd Place – Young Fins
This team has been showing a lot of promise early in the season and has finally secured a podium finish. Skipper Ivan (Cappie) and deckie AJ fought through the pleas from their team for an early swim and managed to stay in the hunt for fish long enough to secure 3rd placing for the second time this season. It was only after a threat to dob them to their Mums for not letting them swim that the fearless skipper and his deckie relented and anchored the boat for a well deserved swim. They did not catch as many as the first 2 teams but what they did catch were monsters bringing in a total of 14.58kgs with the workload shared between Honor Chewlit (5 fish) and Lavenia Cowley (4 fish). In fact, they also took out 1st (Lavenia) and 3rd place (Honor) for Biggest Fish with a 2.78kg and 1.93kg Bluefin Trevallies respectively. With this win they are a whiska away from 3rd place in the overall season standings.
