COSEM participated in the FSMAS Seminar 2026 on 31 March 2026, centred on Fire Safety Risks, Compliance and Response.
The seminar brought together industry professionals to discuss the identification and management of fire safety risks, compliance with relevant regulations and standards, as well as preparedness and effective response during fire emergencies.
As risks continue to evolve with the rise of sustainability and green technologies, especially electric vehicles, the need for enhanced fire protection solutions, such as EV FirePro, remain increasingly important alongside other safety solutions. The showcase of this new solution at the seminar garnered much interest from the industry.
The seminar’s objectives are aligned with COSEM’s commitment to strengthening preparedness and ensuring effective response during fire emergencies.

A growing cause of high-rise fires today stems from battery and electrical fires. With the increased usage of electrical appliances and battery-powered devices, these incidents present complex risks that extend beyond conventional fire behaviour.
An experiment conducted by CNA's Talking Point at COSEM @ Gul, demonstrates how battery fires can escalate into thermal runaway, including the projectile ejection of cells and components. These high-energy projectiles pose serious secondary hazards beyond heat and flames, reinforcing why battery fires require specialised safety distances, shielding, and response strategies. Using safety-approved electrical appliances and batteries is a critical first step in reducing the risk of such incidents.
If you have any concerns on how to safeguard against electrical and battery fires, you can contact us at [email protected] to find out more.

COSEM is delighted to announce the launch of SIDEX-ACDR 2026 which will be held at Singapore Expo between 28 and 30 October 2026.
This follows the partnership agreement signing between COSEM and the Asian Disaster Reduction Center (ADRC) on 10 February 2026, in Kobe, Japan. The Asian Conference on Disaster Reduction (ACDR) is a flagship annual conference of the ADRC.
COSEM’s Deputy CEO, Mr Leow Chew Hong, shared at the ceremony, “SIDEX 2025 was a coming together of experts, practitioners, innovators and front-liner responders into a shared space…the discussions were not theoretical but sharp, honest and grounded in lived experience.”
Partnering ADRC, SIDEX-ACDR 2026 signifies a synergy between events, encouraging the integration of policy, applied research, and operational innovation in disaster risk reduction, preparedness and response.
Mr Leow expressed his gratitude, “SIDEX has raised the bar and earned the trust and commitment of partners across the global industry. We thank ADRC for the confidence in partnering COSEM to co-brand ACDR in Singapore as SIDEX-ACDR 2026.”
Mr Sasahara Akio, Executive Director of ADRC, also shared similar views, “SIDEX 2025 - one of the largest disaster management expos in the Asia region - was held last November by COSEM…We believe that hosting the next ACDR in Singapore, in cooperation with SIDEX 2026, will be both highly meaningful and timely. This collaboration will contribute greatly to addressing the new challenges facing disaster response and DRR in Asia.”
COSEM is deeply grateful to ADRC for placing its trust in us.
We look forward to strengthening preparedness and response capabilities, in pursuit of a more disaster-resilient future together.

Following the MOU signed last week, COSEM and Stellaris signed a second Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at COSEM HQ on 5 February, with the mission to collaborate, explore and develop robotic solutions for emergency response applications in safety-critical environments. The partnership establishes a structured working relationship focused on translating advanced robotics into practical capabilities for deployment in Singapore and Overseas markets. Under this MOU, both parties will jointly explore, develop, and pilot the use of humanoid robots, quadruped robots, service robots, and education robots across areas including, but not limited to, fire safety, emergency response, safety and security-related services, rescue operations, and emergency preparedness.
COSEM and Stellaris will also co-create solutions and demonstrations that leverage robotics to support COSEM’s operational and training activities. In parallel, both parties will assess the technical, operational, commercial, and regulatory feasibility of deploying such robotic solutions for COSEM’s public and private sector clients.
Through this collaboration, COSEM and Stellaris will jointly assess and advance robotic platforms, including humanoid robots, with emphasis on operational integration, real-world evaluation, and system readiness. By supporting frontline personnel through robot-enabled emergency and safety operations, the partnership aims to enhance response effectiveness, improve situational awareness, and reduce operational risks through the responsible adoption of next-generation technologies.
