I'm so happy with how my first powerlifting competition went at the weekend. I was surprisingly not as nervous as I thought I would be, even though my first squat was a bit dire.

Kept the numbers low to make sure I was comfortable throughout the whole day and didn't have to worry about the lifts. Shout-out to my coach Ian for his insane coaching throughout the year and basically fixing all of my lifts to get me to here.

Finished up with a lot still left in the tank:

Squat - 62.5kg
Bench - 42.5kg (tried for 50 for the last one but let's face it, that was premature)
Deadlift - 115kg

Coming back in in August for Abs Series 10 with bigger numbers 💪

Stuck for ideas to increase your protein intake?

"How do I get more protein into my diet?" Is probably the most common question I get asked from my clients, so here are 8 sources of protein I pretty much eat on a daily basis (that isn't your standard meat or fish) 😌

1. Protein Yoghurts from
2. Skyr yoghurt or any Greek yoghurt; I used to eat Liberte but I haven't found it here in Scotland yet.
3. Philadelphia Cheese - recently got back into this and it's great for adding into pasta dishes or even just on a few crackers. Big fan of Tucs.
4. Bacon Medallions - less fat content than regular bacon 🥓
5. Eggs - I think I've had 3 eggs everyday for the last 4 years 😂🥚
6. Cooked chicken - great for adding into sandwiches or on top of a pizza 🍕
7. Cheese - because cheese is great 🧀
8. Clear impact whey from probably the best tasting protein powder in my opinion.

Easy peasy 😌😌

Just over a month later and we have gone from 107.5kg ⏩ 115kg for a deadlift and in the same jumper no less. Super happy with the progress I've made over the last few months and really happy with the work I've put in so far 🏋️

These numbers may be small to some people but even the idea of deadlifting 100kg to me a few months ago was just mad, so the progress that has been made from January until now, I'm really happy with 😌

I started powerlifting last July/August and actually really enjoy training and going to the gym. I'm looking forward to seeing what my numbers get to by the end of the year.
