🥍Film breakdown🎥: Saw this clip from this past weekends action. Wanted to breakdown a few things that made this play finish with a goal
- Great pick by The most effective picks are when the defensemen don’t see them coming. This prevents any communication and forces the defense to switch (this time resulting in a SSDM against Zedd Williams)
- Getting to the 5&5 island which puts the defense in a dangerous situation
- Zedd reacting to the body position of the SSDM. The D mid is initially topside which forces the dodger to begin his inside roll (possibly for a coma slide to come?)
- Next, he is able to use the inside roll to set up the rocker step to increase his angle and prevent the slide
- Also, love the shot selection here. In that area of the field, shooting sidearm off the defensemen’s hip/head makes it nearly impossible for the goalie to see the release. A lot of shooters attempt an overhand shot which allows the defender to get a last second lift
