🏊‍♀️ NEW STAGE 2/3 SWIMMING SPACES! 🏊‍♂️

We’re delighted to be expanding our Learn to Swim programme at Oswestry Otters! ❤️🖤

Following the planned introduction of our new Wednesday Stage 2/3 lesson at Oswestry School, we now have spaces available in both our Wednesday and Friday groups, starting from 4th November.

📍 Oswestry School Pool
🏊 Wednesday | 5:45–6:15pm
🏊 Friday | 6:30–7:00pm
👥 Small groups – maximum 8 swimmers
💷 £26 per month

Our Stage 2/3 lessons focus on building confidence, developing strong swimming foundations and helping children progress their skills in a friendly and supportive environment.

July Swimmer of the Month – Alfie Peake

Our July Swimmer of the Month is Alfie Peake.
Alfie has grown tremendously since joining Oswestry Otters, not only as a swimmer but also as a valued member of our club. His confidence has developed enormously, and it has been fantastic to watch him become such a friendly, engaging and enthusiastic presence on poolside. He always arrives with a smile, enjoys being part of the team, and is a pleasure to coach.

What really stood out this month was Alfie’s attitude at the Boldmere Open Meet. Throughout the entire weekend, he embraced every moment of the competition, supporting and chatting with swimmers of all ages. It was wonderful to see how confidently he mixed with his teammates and how much he enjoyed being part of the club. His enthusiasm was infectious, and he played a big part in creating the fantastic team spirit that was evident throughout the meet.

Swimming is about much more than times and medals. It is about developing confidence, making friendships, supporting one another and enjoying the sport, and Alfie demonstrated all of these qualities in abundance throughout July.

Congratulations, Alfie. You should be incredibly proud of how far you have come. You are a credit to yourself, your family and Oswestry Otters, and I look forward to seeing your confidence and swimming continue to grow.

🏊 Clubs Invited – Oswestry Otters Sprint Series Round 1 🏊

Oswestry Otters SC would like to invite clubs to join us for Round 1 of our 2026/2027 Sprint Series.

📅 Friday 11th September 2026
📍 Oswestry Leisure Centre
🏅 Level 4 Licensed Meet

With the new season just getting underway, this is the ideal opportunity for swimmers to set benchmark times that they can build on throughout the year. It’s also a fantastic chance to gain licensed times, achieve county qualifying standards, and race in a friendly, well-organised environment.

Swimmers can enter 7 events:
🏊 200m Individual Medley
🏊 100m Individual Medley
🏊 50m Freestyle
🏊 50m Backstroke
🏊 50m Breaststroke
🏊 50m Butterfly
🏊 100m Breaststroke

💷 Entry Fee: £20 per swimmer (regardless of the number of events entered), plus the Swimming Events booking fee.

⏰ Warm-up: 6:30pm
🏁 Start: 6:50pm

Entries are open to swimmers aged 8 years and over (age as at 31st December 2026).

We currently have space for around 25 additional swimmers. Entries will be accepted on a first come, first served basis, so we recommend entering early to avoid disappointment.

🏊❤️ A special moment for Oswestry Otters! 🖤

Twenty years apart, two Oswestry Otters swimmers brought together through the Commonwealth Games.

Stuart Manford, who proudly represented Wales at the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia, catches up with Dan Jones, who is currently representing Wales at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Both swimmers began their journey with Oswestry Otters, demonstrating that with dedication, perseverance and hard work, incredible achievements are possible.

We are immensely proud of both Stuart and Dan. They are outstanding ambassadors for our club and an inspiration to every young swimmer who wears the Oswestry Otters cap.

Congratulations on everything you have achieved, and best of luck to Dan for the remainder of the Games. Everyone at Oswestry Otters is behind you! 💙🐙🏅

🌊 Learn to Swim – Limited Spaces Available! 🏊

Oswestry Otters are delighted to be expanding our Learn to Swim programme at Oswestry School.

We currently have spaces available in our Stage 1 (non-swimmer) lessons for children aged 4+:

🗓 NEW Wednesday Class (from 9th September)
🕠 5:45pm–6:15pm
⭐ Only 4 spaces remaining

OR

🗓 Friday Class
🕡 6:30pm–7:00pm
⭐ Only 2 spaces remaining

👨‍🏫 All lessons are delivered by a fully qualified Swim England Teacher, supported by an assistant in the water, with small class sizes to help children develop confidence and fundamental swimming skills in a fun, safe and supportive environment.
