It appears March is here, bringing longer days, a spring in our step, and every excuse to revel upon the parquet. 🌿

🕒 Wednesdays → now commencing 30 minutes earlier
🌸 Thursdays → a most agreeable soirée — bring a companion

Cohorts remain open, should you wish to partake in the gaiety 📆
Step lightly, for even the shyest feet may find delight 💖

Escape the everyday and step into The Back Room, an intimate, inclusive social space dedicated to movement, music, and self-expression.

Happening on the First Thursday of every month, we transform the back space of the weekly Brazilian Zouk social into a haven for dancers and movers of all styles and experience levels.

Dress: Wear comfortable clothing you can freely move in. This is a low-odor event so please avoid the use of scents besides deodorant.

Bonus Access: Your entrance to The Back Room also grants you access to the Zouk Social happening concurrently. (Note: The Zouk lesson held at 7pm is an extra cost.)

WHAT TO EXPECT:

Time: 8:30 PM - 11:00pm (Dancing starts at 9 PM)

🎧 Open Floor Movement: Our DJ curates a dynamic, non-stop musical flow perfect for exploring your unique movement whether you prefer partnered, solo, fusion, or freestyle.

💃 Warm-Up Lesson (8:30PM): Kick off the night with a 30-minute lesson designed to get you warmed up, connected to the music, and ready to flow.

🫂 Inclusive Atmosphere: This is a space for everyone. Bring a friend or come solo. We encourage genuine connection, radical self-expression, and mutual respect.

🍎 Community Snack Potluck: Help fuel the flow! If you’re inspired, bring a small snack to share with your fellow movers.

Self-expression is the only requirement. Come as you are, dance as you feel, and discover what the music moves in you.

As we close out this year of growth, we want to say thank you from the bottom of our dancing hearts for helping build this community or supporting from afar!

What We’ve Accomplished This Year:

🪴 We trained two new teachers, and fully integrated them into our teaching team of 8. Their passion, fresh perspectives, and dedication are already enriching our classes.

🎉 We hosted Colorado’s first Lambada Festival, bringing together dancers from near and far.

🪩 We sponsored tuition for five students who might otherwise not have had access to our programs.

👯 Over the past year, we served 476 students through over 280 offerings group classes & social dances, a testament to the growing demand and impact of our work.

🫴 We increased our Ambassadors (work-trade staff) to 19 people, providing training and onboarding so they can serve as living examples of our school values.

✏️ We updated and shared our Code of Conduct, which now serves as a model for other Denver-based dance organizations.

🤗 Throughout this period, we made a strategic shift: rather than offering many dance styles, we leaned into our strengths, Brazilian Zouk + Lambada, while still honoring the broader roots of social dance.

These highlights are the living proof of connection, creativity, and community that your generosity helps enable.

Looking Ahead
We believe the best is yet to come. With your continued support, we plan to:

-Expand our class offerings (levels, and formats) in alignment with the evolving needs of our community

-Deepen scholarship funding to reach more students facing financial barriers

-Grow our teacher development program so more talented instructors can rise

-Build more opportunities for social dance, intensives, and experiences that bring people together
