We got a lovely thank you from the parents tonight for our Friday Junior Tennis. This was our last session until after the winter months. Once again our courts were full of families enjoying playing, laughing and having fun. Mr John Duffus would be so proud that his lovely donation has left a legacy and reaching out to the new generation of tennis players. Thank you to all the volunteers who came out in a Friday night to support this great initiative, bringing tennis to all in the community.

We are so lucky to be playing tennis in the lovely Autumn sunshine surrounded by the beautiful golden trees in Duffus park. Social tennis will continue as long as weather permits with regular sessions on a Tuesday night, Friday morning, Saturday and Sunday afternoon. Members should just send a PM if you would like to be added to our What’s App group.

What an amazing celebration of 100 years of our tennis club we had last night at Duffus bowling club, the centenary committee did us proud! There were members past and present, young and not so young, and many excursions down memory lane to where it all began. All our champions of the year were presented with their trophies and we were delighted to see Joy Mayglothling recognised, not just for the huge amount of work she does behind the scenes at Duffus but also her long unwavering commitment to Tennis Tayside. Special thanks to guest speakers Gina Logan, Rhona Alston, Alistair Montgomery, to Geoff Baxter for the brilliant video, to Lesley for the decor, Marc for the music and to the bowling club for looking after us so well.

Another cracking day for tennis and our closing tournament. The final was closely fought between Kathryn and Steve and Shona and Alice with Steve and Shona taking the honours. It was nice to see some spectators enjoying the games in the sunshine ☀️ not to mention some lovely apple cake and a cuppa.

And just like that it’s time for our end of season tournament! What a great season it’s been with many highlights as we have celebrated our centenary year. The tournament is this Sunday, starting at 1.30pm. All members are very welcome, just let us know you are coming so we can get your name in the draw. As always, cake and a cuppa to round off the day.

Today was our Veterans tournament, with a great turnout. After the usual round robin rounds the final was contested by Debbie and Jeremy and Neil and Marion. After the first 4 games it was 2 games all and after the teams changed for the next 4 games, Jeremy and Debbie won the extra games to see them come out on top by 5 games to 3. A lovely afternoon of tennis with cake and tea as well!!!

This Sunday we will be having our veterans doubles tournament for members aged 45 or over, the tournament kicks off at 1.30 and players are asked to be along before that if they want to take part or let us know on our What’s App group.

Last Sunday saw the finals of Duffus Tennis Clubs 2026 Championships.
First up was the junior event with a number of juniors playing a round robin format resulting in the top two players playing off for the trophy.
Brother and sister Torran and Xanthe played a high quality and closely contested match with the honours going to Torran who won the deciding tiebreaker. Next up was the Men’s singles event with David Killean up against our first team captain Andrew Gourlay. Again a high quality match ensued which David won in 2 sets. Ladies open singles next between Lesley M and Kathryn Bell. Both these ladies were playing in multiple finals and Lesley won this one, getting her first trophy of the day. Next up was the H/C men’s singles event played between Ian Knox and Jake Flower. Plenty of good tennis on show here with Ian coming out the eventual winner. On to the open doubles events next. In the gents competition Andrew G and Dan were up against the father and son duo of Jeremy and Duncan Howard. A highly entertaining match was enjoyed by the spectators with Andrew and Dan getting the win. The ladies doubles was a repeat of last years final between Lesley P and Kathryn and Marion and Joy. This match went all the way and 1 set all a Marion and Joy eventually got the win after a championship tie break. The H/C doubles events took place next. Gents was contested by Bob B and Donald S versus John H and Steve with the latter pair coming out on top after 2 close sets. The ladies event was played between Debbie and Siri and Joy and Xanthe. This was a close match with Xanthe and Joy getting the win after a highly enjoyable game for both participants and spectators alike. The final two matches were the H/C mixed doubles with Lesley M making her second appearance of the day alongside Andrew G playing against Kathryn (in her third final) and Marc. This was a really close and memorable match with Lesley and Andrew taking the honours by 2 sets to 1. Last match of the day was the H/C ladies singles with Kathryn making her fourth appearance against one of our younger members Xanthe. Again some great tennis was played despite the length of time on court for both players with Xanthe taking the final trophy of the day. Thanks to everyone who supported the event by competing, spectating, donating raffle prizes and food, buying raffle tickets and preparing the clubhouse. All these activities combine to make a successful day and at least the rain stayed away.

8️⃣visiting teams & 2️⃣ Duffus teams competed for the trophy with plans to keep this event going for years to come & bring the local tennis community together 👏

Another brilliant finals day! 🏆🏆🏆 Its great to see how everyone gets involved, and enjoys the day. Congratulations to all the players and winners ( full results and photos coming soon) and a massive thank you to our committee who put in so much time behind the scenes to run the club and days like this 🤩🤩Thanks also to everyone who brought along the delicious food and raffle prizes, decorated the clubhouse and came along to watch the tennis.
