💙 Happy Friday! Next up in our Firstie Friday series, meet Navy Spirit member Will Gutermuth! ✨⚓️

Will is from the 22nd Company and hails from Pittsburgh, PA. He will commission into the United States Navy Submarine Force after graduation. During his time at the Academy, Will has served as Spirit Ops, SHAPE Commander, and 2-3 Squad Leader, consistently bringing leadership, dedication, and heart to everything he does.

Will’s favorite Navy Spirit memories are split between two moments that shaped his experience: youngster year camp, where he first felt welcomed onto the team while hanging out with Coed, eating saltwater taffy, n to feel like family. Camp marked the moment he found his place on the team, and Nationals solidified the bond that made it feel like home. 💙⭐️

Outside of Spirit, Will loves to explore, car-camp, take photos, cook, and immerse himself in theater and live performances. A self-described warfighter turned theater-kid turned warfighter, he has a keen technical eye — if there’s a show happening, he’s analyzing the lighting, estimating costs, locating microphones, and tracking spotlights

Will’s favorite quote comes from Batman Begins:
“Why do we fall, sir? So that we can learn to pick ourselves up.”
A reminder that resilience, growth, and perseverance define both leadership and life. 🦇✨

It was a distinct honor to represent the United States Naval Academy on the national stage this past week. The team’s performance was a testament to months of disciplined preparation and an unwavering commitment to excellence. We are proud to carry the spirit of Annapolis forward. Anchors Aweigh. ⚓️

Tomorrow at 1800 in Dahlgren Hall, Navy Spirit takes the floor for our send-off before heading to UDA & UCA Nationals—the Super Bowl of cheer and dance. 💙⚓️
We spend most of our time cheering from the sidelines, but this is one of the few moments we get to compete as Navy. Be loud, be early, and help us feel the energy of a national stage before we take the stage. The performance is only 3 minutes—you won’t want to miss it.

GET AMPED Spirit Fans ⚓️📣 It’s officially UCA Nationals Week! Let’s kick things off by throwing it back to one of our biggest wins this season, taking down Air Force !! 🏆🙌
