McDonald’s recently came out with their Dirty Dr. Pepper and we need to talk about it…because the ingredient list is one of the worst I’ve seen in a long time, and that’s saying something.

Most people ordering this have no idea what’s actually in it, besides an insane amount of sugar.

Here’s what you’re really drinking:

❌ CARAMEL COLOR (CLASS IV): Made by heating sugar with ammonia and sulfite compounds. Contains 4-MEI, classified as a possible human carcinogen by IARC.

❌ HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP: A heavily processed sweetener linked to increased risk of weight gain, type 2 diabetes, heart disease, cancer and dementia.

❌ DIMETHYLPOLYSILOXANE: The same material used to make Silly Putty, caulking, and silicone breast implants.

❌ CARRAGEENAN: A processed thickener that can inflame the gut and is often contaminated with degraded carrageenan, a possible carcinogen.

❌POLYSORBATE 60: An emulsifier that may be contaminated with 1,4-dioxane – a known carcinogen.

❌POLYSORBATE 80: An emulsifier linked to weight gain, inflammation and digestive problems

❌ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS: Chemical mixtures synthesized in laboratories, derived from petroleum and other inedible substances. Cheaper than using real food. Makes processed food taste irresistible.

❌MONO AND DIGLYCERIDES: Industrial emulsifier made from processed seed oils. Often contains hidden trans fats that don’t have to be listed on the label, even though trans fats are strongly linked to heart disease and inflammation.

❌POTASSIUM SORBATE: This preservative has been shown to be genotoxic to white blood cells, which could lead to cancer.

Healthy eating emphasizes protein, dairy (without added sugars), vegetables, fruits, healthy fats, and whole grains. Protein options include eggs, poultry, seafood, red meat, beans, peas, lentils, legumes, nuts, seeds, and soy.

Most people in the United States need to eat more nutrient-dense foods. At the same time, we need to limit highly processed foods, added sugars, added sodium, and refined carbohydrates.
