Sunset in Solidarity 🌅
Join us for Sunset Solidarity, a special Trail Criú fundraising hike bringing our community together for an evening on the trails. As the sun goes down, we’ll walk side by side in support, connection, and solidarity.
Whether you’re a regular on the trails or joining us for the first time, everyone is welcome. Come along, bring a friend, and be part of something meaningful.
We hike together, we rise together.
All funds raised will support the ongoing work, activities, and community programmes of Trail Criú.

Behind every Trail Criú event is a team of women who do more than just show up—they pave the way. 💫
For International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating the women who lead, organise and advocate for our community. 🙌🏾
Whether it’s meticulously planning safe routes, navigating the logistics of our runs, or breaking down the barriers that keep women from the mountains, these leaders turn 'I wish' into 'I can.'
From our founders to the trail leaders who ensure no one is left behind, their action ensures that the outdoors isn't just a space for some, but a right for all.
To the women of the Criú, we see you, we thank you, and we’re right behind you. 💜

TBT to March 2024! ⏪️ ⛰️
Before our 6-Hour Challenge and the big summits, there were our Tuesday and Thursday morning sessions that built the foundations of our Criú.
At this stage, we were only 4 months into our journey—look how far we’ve come! 🌲✨
2 years on and our mission remains the same: making the trails a space where we all belong, feel supported and empowered...one muddy step at a time. 👟 🌟

May this be a time of reflection, community and renewal for you and yours.

Big moves for the Criú! ⛰️ 🙌🏾
We are so proud of our members who completed their Mountaineering Ireland Mountain Skills 1 training this weekend. 🗺️
This course is the gold standard for personal proficiency, taking participants from basic trails to being fully self-sufficient in the wild.
What they covered:
📍 Precision map reading & navigation
📈 Contour interpretation (reading the land!)
⏱️ Timing & distance tracking
⚠️ Mountain hazards & safety
Leadership isn’t just about pace; it’s about skill, safety and looking out for the group.
Well done to everyone on taking the first step in their leadership journey! 🌟

🏁 Trail Criú 6-Hour Challenge: Top 5 Essentials ✨️
1️⃣ Embrace the Conditions 🌧️ It’s been wet! Sections of the forest tracks are muddy, so choose your footwear wisely and mind your footing. There is 🌞 and rain ☔️ expected, so dress appropriately and bring extra kit.
2️⃣ Bracelet = Lap ⭕️ Don’t forget to grab your bracelet at the Start/Finish after every 5km loop.
3️⃣ Stay "Ear-Aware" 🎧 Keep the volume low. You need to hear marshal instructions and fellow runners on the trails.
4️⃣ Leave No Trace 🍃 Kippure Estate is beautiful; let's keep it that way. Whatever you bring in, please bring home.
5️⃣ Make a "Trail Friend" 🤝🏾 Use the loops to strike up a conversation. High-five someone on the way past or join a group at a similar pace. The shared experience of trail running is an opportunity to bond with others.

...We BLAZE 🌠 ON!
As part of our Trail Blazers series — celebrating runners who embody inclusion, participation and representation in Irish trail running — today we’re proud to highlight Gladis Vela from Bolivia.
🇧🇴🏃🏽♀️⛰️
"I'm from Bolivia. I enjoy trails as they offer me a space for personal reflection. It’s the moment when I connect with nature and thank life for allowing me to feel it and admire its beauty. My best friend and I used to go up the hill to watch the sunrise — it was our favourite routine. Although I prefer to be alone, I also like being part of a group, listening, and sharing quiet moments together. I feel accepted as I am, and it is a relief."
Beyond the trails, it’s about finding peace, connection and a place to belong. We're delighted to have Gladis as part of our community.
