💚💛 A NAME THAT WILL FOREVER BE PART OF HOLROYD RANGERS
Some people become part of a football club.
Others help create it.
At our 60th Anniversary Awards Night, Holroyd Rangers had the incredible honour of recognising one of the people who helped lay the foundations of our club all the way back in 1966 — Joe Mizzi.
Joe was there at the very beginning. And in 1968, playing under the newly established Holroyd Rangers name, Joe scored what became the first ever goal in our club’s history.
Almost six decades later, that moment is still part of our story.
So this year, the committee made the decision to rename our Club Golden Boot in Joe’s honour.
From this day forward, every player who receives our Club Golden Boot will have their name added to an award that carries Joe Mizzi’s name and his place in our history.
But we felt there was another honour that was long overdue.
The committee has also unanimously decided to grant Joe Mizzi Life Membership of Holroyd Rangers Soccer Club.
Because founding a football club is more than enough reason.
Without people like Joe, there would be no 60-year history to celebrate. No generations of players. No families. No memories. No green and yellow.
And perhaps the most special part of the evening was seeing Joe’s legacy immediately passed on to the next generation.
We were incredibly proud to present the first ever Joe Mizzi Club Golden Boot Award to Olivia from our Under 12 Girls team. 🏆
A young player at the beginning of her own football journey, receiving an award named after someone who helped begin ours.
1966 → 1968 → 2026 → and into the future.
That is what a football club is about.
Generations.
People.
Memories.
And the stories that connect them all.
Joe, thank you for helping start something that has become so much bigger than anyone could have imagined 60 years ago.
Your name is now permanently part of the Holroyd Rangers story.
💚💛 Thank you, Joe. And congratulations, Olivia.
