Let’s talk about workout optimization. It’s one thing to hit the gym 4+ times a week and if you’re doing that, well done 👏🏻. But once you’ve got your habit and schedule locked in. It’s time to become more efficient and make sure you’re getting the most out of your workouts. You’re spending maybe 3-8 hrs a week working out, you might as well get the most out of it.

Here are 5️⃣essential tips for great workouts and results:

1️⃣Goal setting: Make sure you set reasonable and attainable goals. It’s great to want to look like Hercules or Wonder Woman. But planning to do it in a couple of months will be nothing short of frustrating.

2️⃣Nutrition: You need to be eating to fuel your workouts. Make sure you are getting enough protein and enough total calories. Severely under eating won’t get you any closer to your goals whether it’s muscle gain or fat loss. Plus don’t forget the quality of your food matters. Micronutrients are what make the body work optimally.

3️⃣Proper programming: Do you have a plan for your week? Or are you just going in and doing what feels good? Proper programming is vital to making sure your training for your goals and helping aid recovery. You need to make sure you're hitting all the actions of each muscle and getting all muscle fibers involved. If you're hitting biceps and you decide on BB Curls, Cable Curls, and Alt Db Curls. You just did the same exercise the whole time. Sure you varied resistance a bit with the cables and maybe you twisted on your DB curls and brought in some more muscles but more so you wasted a bunch of volume.

4️⃣Track your workouts: Do you track your workouts? This will take your workouts up a huge notch immediately if you’ve never tracked your workouts. Make sure you are adding reps or weight to every exercise as soon as possible instead of saying I think I’ve been doing 3x10 @ 40 for a few weeks, maybe I’ll try 45.

5️⃣Proper pace and attitude: You want to keep your workouts efficient. But rushing through everything and not resting will end up bringing on more anxiety and agitation as well as not optimizing muscle growth/strength. Focus on the muscles doing the work while allotting proper rest.

Don't be afraid of weight training! Lean muscle mass naturally diminishes with age. You'll increase the percentage of fat in your body if you don't do anything to replace the lean muscle you lose over time. Strength training can help you preserve and enhance your muscle mass at any age. Strength training can also help with developing strong bones, managing your weight, enhancing your quality of life, and managing chronic conditions.

As the summer comes to an end, the weather will be getting cooler and the days will be getting shorter. It's important to keep your fitness a priority even during these times. Use these tips to commit to your health and fitness.

🕒 Find the best time in your schedule to workout. My online training clients love the flexibility that they have. Everyone's schedules are different. Workout when YOU have the time, whether that is before or after work, or even on your lunch break. You can workout when it works best for you, but still get the accountability that you'd get from in-person training sessions.

🏆 Don't forget to set goals. This is your WHY. What do you want to accomplish? Maybe you want to avoid the typical seasonal depression or maybe you just want to be able to keep up with your kids. This is what is going to keep you going!

🥦 Be mindful when it comes to your diet. If you slip into a seasonal depression, it can be easy to be confused with emotional vs hungry eating. I help my clients avoid this by sending them weekly customized nutrition plans.

🏋️ It is important to vary your exercise routine. Many people don't stick with a plan because they get bored. I will keep your weekly workouts fresh and new so this doesn't happen to you.

As an entrepreneur, I understand that it can be difficult to find the time to go to a gym and get your workout in. This is even more difficult with some gyms still shut down.

Prior to COVID, I took my business online by offering online training which includes a cost-effective workout plan created just for you with your goals and abilities in mind. This also includes access to my app where I can track your workouts and nutrition to keep you accountable. Plus, you can do your workouts on your time around your own schedule.
