Some photos from our tour.
The lads are gutted to leave today, having been most fortunate in seeing a mother cheetah hunting this morning, (don't blink in the video). A long wait in the airport is expected.
The boys are gutted to be leaving, having an emotional few beers at the airport.

Sunday 8th January 2017: a day to forget. Hoping to bit upon a well-fought victory over Langa Towship the previous day, the team arrived in good spirits, hoping that captain Caspar could win his first toss of tour. Unfortunately, that was not to be the case and once again, a 50 over stint in the field ensued. With key seamer Cameron Russell unavailable due to illness, the onus was placed on Lord Seshton-Bell and Jacques Sharam to deliver the goods. Tough conditions and fatigue took their toll from ball one, and by drinks in the 17th over, the opposition had amassed an impressive vingt-et-un for 1. Following a tough start, Matt Watson and Henry Portman came on to bowl and bowled rather impressively, keeping it tight and reducing the run-rate somewhat. Particular plaudits are necessary for Mr Portman, who caught the eye of the visually impaired umpire. He was quoted stating that he could “go places if he gets rid of that dreadful haircut” and that he could be “absolutely quality.” Portman’s 3-fer changed the outlook of the game after a difficult start and the field backed him up ably.
Once Portman had bowled out, the runs began to flow once again from one end. Credit must be given to Tom Hales, picking up 4 wickets amongst the impending massacre. The batsmen were able but sloppiness cost the Seagullians overall, with the innings coming to a close with the hosts at (enter large number here). Dropped catches, “injured” fielders and poor line and lengths went a long way in explicating the sub-par performance.
The interval brought some welcome respite from the pummelling of the dross. The food was good and spirits were slightly raised before the 320 run chase began. The newly promoted Sachak and Badge opened up and looked steady for a couple of overs. Unfortunately, Badge got a snorter and this sparked the onslaught of St Andrean wickets. Jacques Sharam did offer some hope by lamping out some l***y blows (including a first ball 6).
The tourists finished on 90 – some would say they were comprehensively beaten. Things could only get better from here. Sempre Seagullium.
Claremont CC Match Report:
Following the defeat to Cape Town CC the previous day, the Gulls travelled to Claremont to try and break their duck on tour. In traditional style, Caspar decided to lose the toss and sent the team out to field.
Within the first over there was controversy as the Claremont opener snicked off to the keeper, Bristow off the bowling of Cam Russell. However, he chose to advocate the popular St Andrews fashion show, DONT WALK. The opening stand went on to make 83 runs before Henry Portman's majestic shlid had 1 and 2 back in the hutch. Claremont continued to build the innings whilst losing consistent wickets due to free flowing scoring shots. L*z came under the baptism of fire , getting carted for 20 in his two overs before a sudden injury. Eventually the home side finished on 284/8 in their 50 overs with notable contributions from fresher Portman (10-1-51-3) and Alex Sachak (10-1-45-2) both of which bowled well in key parts of the innings.
The touring side's response started fairly slowly with Badge and Kempley accumulating in their own way. However the right bowling forced poor shots from the majority of the top 6 who looked to push the rate on. Jones stuck in, taking van tay oon deliveries to get off the mark, but eventually dished out a gritty 22 along with L*z's 26 following a miraculous recovery from injury. Unfortunately wickets continued to tumble and the touring Gulls slumped to 120 all out.
A better all round performance than the previous day's game against Cape Town, the boys left feeling more upbeat following a rowdy fines session with the Claremont lads.

Sadly the zip wire was cancelled today due to there being a forest fire. Boys played a Ryder cup style mini golf tournament before heading off to do a little wine tasting.

A great win over Fish Hoek CC yesterday. Gulls chased 150 odd on a dodgy deck in their 30 allotted overs. Stand outs were: H Portman, T Abbott and C Russell.
