MAC Swim School

As said MO MONEY, MO PROBLEMS 😬. I thought her post was a great insight into owning and running a SME, so I did an example of what it costs to run my business because it’s so interesting/scary!
People assume big numbers mean big profits but running a business costs a lot! Like around R252k per month! And this isn’t everything, just the basics….
Electricity being a huge contributor to running the business, especially in SA, as it is what we rely on most as a swim school to keep the water between 32 and 34 degrees! The cost is insane and yes, I should have solar to take the load off, but that would cost about a million to install and keep the water at the temperature we need to keep every one swimming and happy, so at this point it is not an option…
The weight of the responsibility is huge, especially in winter (min 4 months) when we lose over 100 students to the weather 😰. I am responsible for the business, the customers and most importantly the livelihoods of 6 people on my team!
Small biz is so hard and not for the faint hearted but I am grateful and I thank each and every one of you who support us! I salute 🫡 all of you in the same boat! We got this!!
