Escrima is a traditional Filipino martial art developed from ancient combat systems. When bladed weapons were banned during colonization, practitioners adapted by using rattan sticks, preserving deadly sword techniques through disciplined stick fighting. Today, Escrima is a powerful, practical system that builds coordination, reflexes, and real-world self-defence skills while honouring Filipino warrior heritage.

🥋 The Origin of Goju-ryu Karate

Goju-ryu (剛柔流) means “Hard–Soft Style” — a system built on balance, control, and inner strength.

Its roots trace back to Okinawa, through the teachings of Higaonna Kanryo, who studied martial arts in Fujian, China before returning home. His methods blended powerful conditioning, deep breathing, and close-range combat.

These teachings were later refined and formalised by his student, Chojun Miyagi, who named the style Bubishi — expressing the eternal principle of hard and soft in harmony.

Goju-ryu is more than technique.
It is discipline, breath, character, and balance — forged through years of correct training.
