What makes this weekend even more inspiring is that just a few months ago, Leanne underwent spinal fusion surgery. Many people would still be taking it easy — but not Leanne. Through determination, discipline, and true martial artist spirit, she has already returned to training and stepped onto the competition floor again… and came home with a medal winner at the national championships!

Your resilience and fighting spirit are truly inspiring, Leanne. We’re incredibly proud to have you and Morgan as part of the Beauty is a Beast family.

Kagi Tsuki (鉤突き) – Karate Technique Details
Meaning:
Kagi = Hook / bent
Tsuki = Punch
So, Kagi Tsuki means Hook Punch in karate.
Technique:
Punch comes in a curved/hooking motion, not straight.
Elbow stays bent around 90 degrees.
Strike is delivered using the front two knuckles or fist surface depending on style/training.
Power is generated from hip rotation + body twist, not just arm movement.
Target Areas:
✅ Jaw / Chin
✅ Side of head
✅ Ribs
✅ Solar plexus (close range)
Key Points:
✔ Guard hand stays up
✔ Rotate hips sharply
✔ Keep shoulders relaxed until impact
✔ Fast snap and quick recovery
✔ Proper stance balance is important
Benefits in Karate:
Effective in close-distance fighting
Improves body coordination
Develops hip power
Useful combination after blocks or straight punches
