The University of Fort Hare football team has recently acquired the services of Sihle Makhanya as its new head coach.
The Port Shepstone, Ezingolweni-born mentor is immediately faced with a mammoth task of qualifying the team for the ABC Motsepe League, returning them to the A Stream of USSA football, and ultimately reaching the prestigious varsity football.
He started coaching in 2006, and his passion grew stronger, mostly influenced by a well-known football coach, Khabo Zondo, whom he described as a dedicated coach with football brains.

Strategic planning gives direction. Without it, effort gets scattered and energy gets wasted. With it, every action big or small has a purpose. You stop reacting to problems and start designing outcomes.
It creates focus in a noisy world. When everything feels urgent, a clear strategy helps you say no to distractions and yes to what actually moves the needle. Focus is a competitive advantage.
It turns vision into reality. Dreams stay abstract unless they’re broken into goals, priorities, and timelines. Strategic planning is the bridge between what you imagine and what you achieve.
It builds confidence and resilience. When challenges hit and they will a plan helps you adapt without losing your way. You’re not guessing; you’re adjusting with intention.
And most importantly: strategic planning puts you in control. Instead of letting circumstances decide your path, you decide where you’re going and how you’ll get there.
Plan with purpose. Act with clarity. Adjust with courage. That’s how progress compounds
