Google Earth historical imagery of Bronkhorstspruit Dam paired with the UltraMarine Interface Box and the new Garmin SpyPole opens up a completely new way to find hidden underwater structure.

Ever wanted to locate structure that most anglers never even knew existed? Old cattle kraals, roads, fence lines, and submerged features that were built long before the dam was flooded can now be identified using Google Earth historical maps. Once you’ve found the structure, deploy the Garmin SpyPole and use Garmin 360 Imaging to reveal the detail with incredible clarity.

Using Google Earth historical imagery allows you to go back in time and locate satellite images of the dam or lake when the water level was at its lowest. By overlaying those historical images onto your fishfinder through the UltraMarine Interface Box, you can identify submerged structure that would normally remain hidden once the dam is full.

Old roads, cattle kraals, fence lines, river channels, and hard structure become visible on the historical image while you navigate the exact same area live on the water today — giving anglers the ability to accurately locate and fish structure that was previously almost impossible to find.

Out on the water today at Rustewinter Dam and thought we’d share a quick look at the XR21.

This isn’t a full walk-through — just a short clip highlighting a couple of the small details on the boat, including parts of the front deck, bow layout, and a few of the operating features.
