The much anticipated Finals for the RallyX Championship has happened and it was was a tire smoking event! The racers were all squaring up to throw everything including the kitchen sink at the day as the Championship podium spots were very close in the points, with a few racers barging in from out of nowhere and holding their hands up for trophies. With a very unique race format of 7 laps from a standing start and then another 7 laps with a reverse finish grid the passes and action was hard and fast! RallyX specific track layouts made for no straights and some interesting corners. After the serious racing was done a joker race was done, 14 cars on the track for a no holds barred 5 minute dash for glory! We don't know who came where, cars being swopped out during the run for some epic RC fun. And then a quick Oval session happened that tested the grip of the already overworked tires. A good laugh was had by all. Here is what went down, class per class:

*Tamiya Rally
1) Jacques Boucher - Tamiya TT01E
2) Jc Smit - Tamiya TT01E
2) Nico Jonker - Tamiya TT01E
Jacques made a mad dash to secure as many points as possible to hustle his way to a Championship finish, and he did not disappoint at all! With a massive push he secured the 1st on the day, with a very sideways JC in 2nd being one of a few racers on the day that can say he was very close to actual tire smoke. In a safe 3rd was Nico, playing the long game and taking the points needed for the Champioship.

*RallyX
1) Jacques Boucher- SNRC R3
2) Divan Jonker - SNRC R3
3) Nico Jonker - SNRC R3
This class is known for massive horsepower and very little regard for tire life. At one stage there were three very sideways cars going into a technical section of the track, how a massive crash didn't happen we will never know. With a semi controlled drive was Jacques taking the 1st for the day. In 2nd was Divan, he was doing points calculations before every heat and making sure he was in the right place at the right time to get to his goals. Nico in 3rd had a bit of a fight with his car on the day, reducing horses in an attempt to keep some form of control.

*RallyX Outlaw
1) Juan Lappies Labuschagne - XRAY X4
2) Dawid Johannes Liebenberg - Yokomo RS1.0
3) Ryno Pienaar - Tamiya TT02
This was a sight to behold! The three contenders for the day never more than a few meters apart, some creative liberties were taken with line choices, cars were thrown into corners with very little regard for tires or bodies. In the second qualifier a small rain dump happened and nobody stopped racing making for a VERY sideways race that was a good theme song away from a drift session. Stepping into 1st was Lappies, pale and laughing after every run. 2nd was DJ and his trusty Yokomo, his tires being worked hard all day long. In 3rd was Ryno and a TT02 that is considering an early retirement, the budget build being tested to maximum to try and keep up with the other two in front.

Season Finals are usually a tense affair and this event broke the mold in many ways, a big thanks to the racers who attended and had an absolute blast! The Championship post will drop soon, watch this space and STAY RADIO ACTIVE!

Roll up, Roll up! The exciting and thrill packed RallyX series at RARC will be happening this coming Sunday! With the two classes, RallyX and Tamiya Rally both featuring some on fire drivers and points too damn close for comfort there will be wh***ey throttle and sideways passes aplenty! Nico Jonker will have his hand full in both classes as he currently hold the lead IN BOTH! The points in the Final event will count 150%, and the racers have done some serious math to work out what needs to be done!

In Tamiya Rally class Jc Smit is on the hunt to get as close to Nico to force a mistake or two and Yolanda Anley will be trying her best to keep Johan Truter away from from her 3rd place for the year.

With the outlaw RallyX class there is a possible 4 way slug fest for the podium spots, Divan will be setting his sights to move his dad away from the points lead, with Francois Benade and Jacques Boucher on target to make Year Podiums! Joining in for this final will be quite a few Wild Card racer that will be having monumental scraps and baring some teeth!

As always spectators are more that welcome to come join in the fun and watch the racers go all out for glory! Die Loods will be on hand for delicious food and beverages!

With great anticipation and excitement the 9th race in the 11 race Championship Series at RARC landed to a bumper 60 plus entries with grids in all the classes jam packed with tallent and speed! A few of the older racers made a comeback and the pits was buzzing with eagerness to get laps down. The Saturday Practice showed the layout for the weekend was a lot faster than anticipated. Here is what went down, class per class:

*VRX Octane XL
1) Shawn De Meyer - VRX Octane XL
2) Johan Truter - VRX Octane XL
3) Nico Jonker - VRX Octane XL
Young gun Shawn showed restraint and concentration at the right times to cut clean laps and walk into a 1st place. In 2nd was Johan having a massive fight with his own vastly overpowered car, very entertaining to watch him try and keep it under control, Nico in 3rd playing it safe and grabbing a podium spot.

*Tamiya M-Chassis
1) Ryno Pienaar - Tamiya MB-01
2) Emil Beckmann - Tamiya M-05
3) Ewan Koen - Tamiya MB-01
The MB-01 chassis racers can now say that they have the platform well sorted, Ryno with a 1st and Ewan with a 3rd. In 2nd was the 2025 Champion Emil with his trusty M-05. These results do not show the bare knuckle battles that was happening almost every lap the entire day. The racers were walking away from the driver's stand a few shades more pale and a case of the rattles. The racing in this class is massively close and every fault demotes a driver a few places.

*2wd Buggy
1) Ryno Pienaar - Tamiya Astute TD2
2) Ewan Koen - Team Associated B6.3
3) Juan Lappies Labuschagne - Team Associated B6.3
In a very surprising move Ryno made a chassis change from his well known Team Associated to a unknown Tamiya TD2, as far as we can tell the only one being raced in South Africa! Here put some serious development time into the suspension to get the chassis dialed and it showed on the day, 1st place shifting to him. In 2nd place was Ewan, having to battle and hustle his way there, Lappies giving chase all the way. This class has evolved over the year and the gaps between drivers comes down to pure pace and the least amount of mistakes.

*Short Course Truck B-Main
1) Jan Dreyer - Team Associated SC10V2
2) Charles Bastone - Traxxas Slash
3) Janco Dreyer - PR SCT10
Jan went to the main ready to take top spot and he did not back down until the last lap was done, pushing for lap times! In 2nd place was Charles with the most sideways SCT on the day, his mad slides through the long sweepers was very much enjoyed by the spectators! One of your young racers Janco grabbing 3rd place while trying to get close to Charles!

*Short Course Truck A-Main
1) Martin Deysel - Team Associated SC6.4
2) Ewan Koen - Team Associated SC6.2
3) Christoff Meyer - Team Associated SC6.4
When enough time and effort is put into racing, and the natural tallent and nerves play along there is only one result, and that is a win! Martin locked down on the day and secured his maiden 1st place in this highly competitive class! He kept his Team Associated Truck in the lines and kept mistakes to the minimum for the top spot. In 2nd place was a very hard charging Ewan Koen who did not back down from a bit of door rubbing and in 3rd place was points leader Christoff, his solid pace getting him on the podium.

*Tamiya Stock Touring
1) Nico Jonker - Tamiya TT01E
2) Johan Truter - Tamiya TT01E
3) Francois Benade - Tamiya TT01E
Nico was the racer who played it safe, but in a fast way! His 1st place was hard worked as he was chased all the way to the line by Johan on 2nd place. In 3rd place was Francois with a new style of body that took some getting used to and by the end of the day his pace had increased a lot! With a almost box stock class, affordable electronics and RARC Race Shop tires this class always gives close and furious racing!

*Tamiya Stock Touring Pro
1) Lappies Labuschagne - Tamiya TT01E
2) Abrie Du Plooy - Tamiya TT01E
3) Jacques Boucher - Tamiya TT01E
The Pro segment of this popular class is to accommodate races that have more experience and still want the thrills of proper stock racing. Lappies nailed the 1st place with newcomer to the class Abrie solidly finding his feet in the second final to secure a 2nd place. Jacques with his usual sliding and sideways antics took 3rd for the day, his unique line choices made many racers question their life choices.

*21.5 Spec Touring B-Main
1) Lappies Labuschagne - XRAY X4
2) Martin Deysel - XRAY X4
3) Dawid Johannes Liebenberg - Yokomo RS1.0
Lappies and Martin were trading fastest laps the whole day, the gap was so close at times it looked like two clone cars going around the track! Lappies kept it together for a 1st and Martin hooking the 2nd. DJ and his trusty Yokomo did enough to secure a 3d and kept the other racers at bay.

*21.5 Spec Touring A-Main
1) Sj Coetzer - Team Associated TC7 Custom
2) Brian Botha - Team Associated TC8
3) Ryno Pienaar - Team Associated TC8
The grid was populated with SA champions, regional champions, Tamiya Cup champions, National winners and competitors. There was absolutely no lack of tallent and knowledge in this class and it showed. With some of the closest and hardest racing seen the on track action was WILD! SJ stepped up with his breathed on TC7.1 custom and took top honors with Brian close enough to smell what shampoo his was using with a white knuckle 2nd place. In 3rd was Ryno, the size of his pupils indicating the second final was one that got the heart rate going.

RARC went into Race weekend with a brand new surface and layout! The track was looking fresh and the grip was unbelievable! The racers put in some solid sessions Saturday with practice and lined up ready to battle Sunday morning early. There were some big surprises during the day, and the results will tell the stories. Here is what went down, class per class:

*Octane XL Stock (Brushed)
1) Johan Truter - VRX Octane XL
2) Nico Jonker - VRX Octane XL
3) Frans Benade - VRX Octane XL
The brushed category of the Octane class was one big tussle, Johan taking the 1st with consistent laps and staying out of trouble as much as possible. Nico in 2nd was pushing hard with a new setup and tire combo and was caught out a few times with the increased corner speed. Next time he will bring the fight to Johan. In a very hard fought 3rd place was one of our young guns, Frans was pushing as hard as his nerves allowed and stepped up to the podium!

*Octane XL Unleashed (Brushless)
1) Shawn Coetzer - VRX Octane XL
2) Francois Benade - VRX Octane XL
3) Charles Bastone - VRX Octane XL
This is where mad horsepower lives! With crazy wheelies and wheel lifts every lap the racers had to stay calm and collected or risk flying off the track at breakneck speeds! Shawn had a well sorted car that he used to great effect, securing a 1st place. In 2nd place with a Buggy that was powered by the sun itself was Francois, his crazy horsepower being a challenge to fully control. In 3rd place was Charles, barely hanging on to his brushless setup and knocking a podium spot into his pit area.

*Tamiya M-Chassis
1) Ryno Pienaar - Tamiya MB-01
2) Ewan Koen - Tamiya MB-01
3) Shawn Truter - Tamiya M-05
For the whole of 2026 the underlying battle was between the M-05 chassis racers and the MB-01 chassis racers. The M-05 racers has the advantage of many years of development on the widely liked chassis, the MB-01 racers had a clean slate to work with. Slowly but surely the MB-01 racers where chipping away and making headway. And on this day they took the bigger hammer to the track! Ryno slotted a very collected second final to take the 1st place, Ewan taking TQ and a paper thin gap to 2nd place. In 3rd was Shawn, the rest of the year promises some EPIC battles between chassis and drivers!

*2wd Buggy
1) Brian Botha - XRAY XB2
2) Ryno Pienaar - Team Associated B6.3
3) Christoff Meyer - XRAY XB2
The XRAY racers were out for trophies and they did not disappoint! Brian taking his second win on the trot and making plans to wrestle more points from Ryno in 2nd, his comfortable points gap so far can be put under strain with a bad race day or two. In 3rd and battling all day long was Christoff, doing enough to grab a trophy.

*Short Course Truck
1) Christoff Meyer - Team Associated SC6.4
2) Martin Deysel - Team Associated SC6.4
3) Ewan Koen - Team Associated SC6.2
Christoff was smiling from ear to ear when he took the 1st for the day, the racers behind him are starting to formulate setup and race pace changes to inch closer to the current points leader. Martin took a big step forward, utilizing the extra grip available to smash a 2nd with Ewan within throwing distance in 3rd. The class was earmarked as one of the spectator favourites and they put on quite the show!

*Tamiya Stock Touring Clubman
1) Jacques Boucher - Tamiya TT01E
2) Jc Smit - Tamiya TT01E
3) Nico Jonker - Tamiya TT01E
Now this was some hard core racing where rubbing is the name of the game and brake markers are only a suggestion. Jacques putting in some blistering laps on the finals to firmly grab the top spot! In 2nd was current points leader JC, racking in competently fast laps as scoring great points in the process, 3rd went to Nico who was rotating very reliably during the day.

*Tamiya Stock Touring Pro
1) Juan Lappies Labuschagne - Tamiya TT01E
2) Francois Benade - Tamiya TT01E
3) Yolanda Anley - Tamiya TT01E
With the class growing a new category it was Lappies jumping in and taking the 1st, his speed and massive consistency had him making laps look easy. In 2nd and pushing his yellow Mercedes to tire punishing levels was Francois. In 3rd we had Yolanda and her French racers Peugeot grabbing a nervous and well deserved podium spot!

*21.5 Spec Touring
1) Sj Coetzer - Team Associated TC8
2) Ryno Pienaar - Tamiya TT02
3) Brian Botha - Team Associated TC8
This class was the talking point of the day. Ryno had saddled up a budget friendly Tamiya TT02 to start development for a new class being planned for 2027. His car was dubbed "Plastic Fantastic" on Saturday where it showed a surprising turn of pace. Then on race day all manner of battles broke out! SJ walked out of the fight with a 1st place securely in his hand, finding his rhythm in the two finals. In 2nd place (and the surprise of note) was Ryno with his scale body Nissan GTR body TT02. Brian in 3rd had a technical difficulty with a servo in the last final and that relegated him one spot with his points lead still firmly in place for the year.

Another spectacular race day at RARC! We would just like to again thank Pine Auto Electrical, Lappies Truck Repairs, Johan Truter and Francois Benade for their help in getting everything done and ready for race weekend. The RC community in Bloemfontein is very strong and still growing! You know this by now, STAY RADIO ACTIVE!!

With the clock ticking down the 8th installment of the RARC Championship Points Race Series the race and track crew have a big thank you to give. With the annual track resurfacing and visual upgrade happening the cost of the chemicals and paint took a leap in the wrong direction. But with a RC community like RARC and it's dedicated racers no problem is too big to tackle. We would like to thank Pine Auto Electrical, Johan Truter, Francois Benade and Juan Lappies Labuschagne from Lappies Truck Repairs for stepping up and helping in a big way to get this large project back on track!

On race day Die Loots and Mita in the kitchen will once again be serving refreshments and delicious race fuel (also known as food) to the racers and the spectators.

With the racing year being where it is the racers are all doubling down on effort to secure maximum points in the hunt for the flashy year end trophies! Spectators are always more than welcome to join in and view the epic on track action!

The VRX Octane XL class has a full grid of crazy racers, definitely a spectator favourite class. The other classes still have entries coming in and the grids are sure to be packed with serious entertainment and action coming in. Spectators are always welcome to join in for the day.

RARC hits the road! This coming Saturday there is a 3 hour Endurance Race using the Tamiya TT01E Euro Truck as the spec chassis at Redline RC Racing Club in Gauteng. The two Bloem teams have been testing and tuning for quite some time, The Race Shop built two efficient and fast chassis with custom paint work on the bodies to tackle the challenge. Practice will be Saturday morning for the final fine tuning and then the 3 hour continuous battle commences. There are more than 10 other teams that will be competing for podium spots in this very specialized form of racing. Motus Bloemfontein really stepped up to the plate with backing for both teams, our safe transport is well sorted with a Mitsubishi Destinator 7 seater, the racers will arrive fresh and ready for action. Watch this space for updates on the day. Good luck racers, and a big thank you for the other racers at Radio Active RC for helping with testing and batteries for the day.
