Her advice to anyone thinking about joining?

Annoyingly simple. Usually correct.

Kettlebell Flow is here! (YAY!)

KB flow is a 45 minute, interval style class using kettlebells to build strength, power, coordination, balance, grip strength, stability and serious conditioning.

It’s great for cardiovascular fitness, muscle building, body awareness, plyometrics and learning new movement patterns, which is good for your body and your brain. (Annoying when science makes sense.)

Never touched a kettlebell before?
Good. We’ll teach you.

All fitness levels welcome.

Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:30pm.
Book early. These classes are filling up fast.

WhatsApp our Boss Lady to make a booking for a free trial: +27 84 035 2489

Meet George.

One of the humans in the pack, and proof that everyone has their own reason for showing up, suffering voluntarily, and coming back again anyway.

Swipe through to get to know him!

We love having you in the pack, George.

1. What made you walk through the doors of Deep South CrossFit for the first time?

I’d been doing a lot of yoga for many years and needed to build some strength. I was very nervous walking in that first day, CrossFit was completely unknown territory for me, but I knew it was what I needed.

2. What keeps you coming back?

It has to be the community of mamma’s pushing through the same workout that keeps me showing up even on the days I don’t feel like it.

3. What’s your favourite class or workout?

CrossFit
Strong Lift
Hybrid
SweatFit

4. What’s one achievement you’re most proud of since joining?

Getting stronger at lifting my own body weight on the pull up bar.

5. What’s a movement you love… and one you’d happily never do again?

I love the gymnastics part of CrossFit.
I not a fan of deadlifts…

6. What’s your favourite thing about the Deep South community?

No ego, just people genuinely rooting for each other’s wins, big or small. We’re also lucky to have an amazing owner who’s truly inspiring and coaches with genuine care, always helping us get our movements right.

7. If you could give one piece of advice to someone thinking about joining, what would it be?

Don’t wait until you feel “fit enough” to start, the fitness comes from showing up, and you can’t beat the community at Deep South CrossFit.

8. Outside of the gym, what do you enjoy doing?

I’m a Functional Breath Coach, I work with clients on breath mechanics for performance, as well as pelvic floor health and postpartum recovery for women. I’m a mum of two, train Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and enjoy trail running and yoga. I also have a background in karate.

9. Tell us one fun fact about yourself that most people don’t know.

I’m a 2nd Dan black belt in karate and was in the South African karate team for a few years.

10. Coffee before training or after?
After

11. Finish this sentence: “Deep South CrossFit is...”

Deep South CrossFit is your home away from home where women lift each other up, literally and figuratively!

So come train anyway!

Winter is where consistency gets built. Not because you feel inspired and ready to become the best version of yourself and you listening to “summer bodies are built in winter”” speech, from some old Auntie from the aerobics era.

Because you booked the class and showed up!

Training through winter helps keep your routine alive, builds strength when motivation is low, supports your mood, and keeps you moving when it would be much easier to skip the session and call it “listening to your body.”

CrossFit, SweatFit, Barbell, Gymnastics, Strong Lift, PT, recovery, coffee and a room full of people also pretending they didn’t nearly cancel.

Join the pack.

“The FOR:TIME Fitness Supernova Grips are built for serious bar work, with a silicone surface, microfibre leather, strong wrist support and no patience for ripped palms.

Pull-ups, toes-to-bar, muscle-ups, hold on better, protect your hands, and stop pretending tears are part of the programme.

Available in the Deep South Crossfit Shop, imported all the way from the UK.

Still have to do the reps yourself.

Obviously.

We’ve got a fully stocked retail section now.

This is less of an announcement and more of a warning.

We’ve hunted down some of the best brands from around the world and filled the shelves with all the things that make CrossFit slightly less painful and your training slightly more enjoyable.

Will they magically add kilos to your lift or reps to your workout?

Probably not.

But you’ll look great, your hands might survive the week, and placebo is a powerful thing.

DM us if you’re after the goods. 💪🏼🫶🏻👏🏼
