It was a weekend filled with silverware for our pre-academy age groups as both U10 and U12 teams participated in the Unity Cup and both teams came home tournament winners in their respective age groups. Our 10s completed the three-peat (winning the tournament for the their third consecutive year) while the U12s also claimed their third Unity Cup Winners Trophy, having won the tournament in 2022 and 2023.

Throughout the tournament, both age groups showcased both their attacking flair - the U10s scoring 46 goals (an average of 6.6 goals/game) and the U12s scoring 22 goals (an average of 3.1 goals/game) en route to their trophies - while also displaying a resoluteness at the back, only conceding one goal between the two of them for the duration of the tournament. Well done to both teams and particular congratulations to Lezano (U12) and Declan (U10) who both won the ‘Player of the Tournament’ for their respective age groups, Lwandiso (U12) for being the joint top goalscorer and Coach Yannick for being named Coach of the Tournament.

“I’m so proud of the type of soccer those U10/U9 boys showed during the tournament and it really is just such a pleasure to coach them”, said Coach Yannick. “The U12s were just as impressive, both on and off the field, and demonstrated what it means to be an Ubuntu player”.
