Hi everyone, my name is Harry Nel. I have been the chairman of the UCT Cricket Club for nearly two years now. Don Paterson reached out and contacted me about reviving this page and getting it going again. The club is undergoing some challenging times with its finances as the university has cut funding to its whole sports programs so we are busy looking for ways to ensure its longevity. The club would greatly benefit from a stronger alumni connection and I am going to try my best to get this going. The club is having its annual clubhouse opening on tomorrow on Wednesday the 21st of Feb (I know it is short notice). If anyone is around, I am more than happy to buy you a beer and have a chat about their experience at the club. I am also in the process of setting up a Whatsapp group for alumni for smaller details, banter about past years and current results of the club. Send me a message on this page or a Whatsapp on 072 624 3756 and I will add you to the group. I hope to chat to a lot of you soon!

Fellow Cricketers
Welcome to the official UCT Cricket Old Boys site.
After two years of no cricket I have started to miss not only the game but the people that come with it, and I am hoping that through this organisation we will begin to change that in the future.
For those that don’t know me, my name is Donald Paterson. I played at the club from 2015 to 2019 and was the Chairman from 2016 to 2018. I look back fondly on those times and thoroughly enjoyed all the opportunities and the challenges the club had to offer.
From tight games to long nights in the clubhouse, the Cricket Club was a good place to be.
The one aspect we always seemed to complain about was however the lack of an Old Boys Club even though we had such a high pedigree of players that have come out of the club in the past. Therefore during my time as chairman I made the commitment that when my time came I would take it on myself to establish one.
The current Chairman Matthew Benning and I decided to start working on this project now and hopefully try build up a base for us to start organising a few social events in the future.
In order to start building this base, we are first going to try to build a chain of the chairmen over the years. Please may I ask you to join the “UCT Old Boys Group” under the groups tab and then secondly tag the Chairman before yourself in this post in order for them to do the same.
If the Chairman before you is not on Facebook please would you send me their number, email address or there name if possible.
Let’s firstly see how many years back we can get the link of Chairman going before we spread out to other former members of the club. After all what is a club without the Chairman.....
Our email is [email protected] or send me a message on 0725193834.
I look forward to sharing some clubhouse fables with you all in the not so distant future.
Yours in Cricket
Donald Paterson
