BE STRONG-BE BRAVE-BE YOU

My job is to help you lose weight/gain muscle/become fit. It's time for you to become your own hero!

My passion is seeing a person transform and realizing just how incredible and powerful they truly are.

10/11/2021

Hey, my name is Matthew!

I fell in love with the fitness industry when I saw how big of an impact training can have on people, not just physically but emotionally and mentally as well.

Growing up I was always made fun of, whether it was for being too chubby or too skinny; it seemed like I could never win. I hated the way I looked. I wouldn’t eat my lunches at school, because “if you don’t eat, you can’t get fat”, right? Well, eventually I became skinny. Too skinny. I was now too small in comparison to all the other kids to play on the rugby team. And that’s when I found the gym. Unfortunately my relationship with fitness started out of a dark place because all I wanted to do was look good for other people.

Slowly but surely, I started seeing the progress and fell in love with the process more than the destination. I forgot all about the negativity and started training for myself.

My goal as a trainer has, and always will be, to transform people’s lives. I want to show people how strong and incredible they really are - that despite your insecurities, you are remarkable and powerful. And yes you might lose some weight or gain some muscle along the way.

With that being said, let the journey begin…

Life might knock you down, but that doesn’t mean you have to stay there.

Smile through the hard times.

Some days you really don’t want to do it. So do it anyway!

Today was my first session back since my bike accident 5 weeks ago. How did it go?
Feel like s**t✅
Can’t lift much✅
Fatigued after like 3 reps✅
Hate myself and keep comparing to where I used to be✅
Feel like a fat blob ✅

But guess what, I might not be where I was, but I’m one step closer to being better than ever.

We all have set backs, but that doesn’t mean we’re not going to get past them!

2020 has been quite something. Every single goal I had set for myself turned to s**t😂. With that being said though, I have had so many new blessings come into my life. 1 of which has been my 1pm army. Not only have they helped me fall back in love with what I do for a living, but they’ve helped me grow as a trainer and pushed me to develop different styles of workouts to keep pushing them. I truly am grateful for everything I have learned from this year, how ever 2021 can you please be a bit kinder😂🙏🏻.

Life is like a squat. When you’re at the lowest point and you have some heavy s**t holding you down, it takes true strength to rise up.

And now that I’m done being all philosophical, please note that it doesn’t count as a squat unless your bum goes down to at least 90 degrees. So gym bro’s, stop trying to compensate 🤏🏻 take the weights off and do it properly!

Tag a friend who needs to read this, which part is up to you😉

🔻the ugly truth about training🔻

The ugly truth about training,is that after you train you should look ugly!

Just to show you that you’re not alone, this is what I looked like after today’s workout with

When you come in to the gym, you need to push yourself. You come to the gym because you’ve put on weight from being lazy, sho how will being lazy in the gym benefit you in any way?

Do yourself a favor, calculate your max heart rate(220- your age)
Your fat burning zone only starts at 70% of that!

So stop walking on the treadmill for 30minutes and saying that you did a workout! GO BURN SOME DAMN CALORIES!!

So today I had one of my biggest fears come to life:

"you don't have abs, so how can you tell me how to train." - my client

Now granted he said this as a joke. However it didn't make me feel any less sh*t about myself.

I do what I do because I love helping people. But here I am constantly fighting insecurities because I don't look like other trainers(who are or have most likely used steroids). And yes I do enjoy my food and sometimes eat way too much.

But guess what, I don't give a f*ck. And neither should you.

Remember, YOUR WORTH IS DETERMINED BY YOU, IT IS NOT DICTATED TO YOU!

With that being said. What is something that makes you feel insecure? And how do you go about dealing with this or getting over it? I would love to hear from you😁

🔻Time for the truth🔻

I've been quite open about the fact that I now have stretch marks and that I've gained weight. To be completely honest I put on almost 10kgs.

Going back to work has been a blessing, I am so grateful that I am back doing what I love, however I've been terrified daily. Terrified that someone notices my weight gain, terrified that somebody shames me for being an out of shape trainer.

But since going back to work I started with intermittent fasting and eating clean. And instead of sitting on the couch all day I'm actually up and moving about. I've already lost 4kgs.(and surprisingly I didn't need herbalife to do it, lol)

I am terrified of being called fat or someone telling me I'm not good at what I do because of my body. But guys, fitness is more than that. It's about being confident in yourself and loving yourself as well as pushing your limits!

After saying this those 4kgs lost feel like 104kgs. Let me know in the comments what it is you aim to achieve through fitness. Why do you train? What scares you?
And if you don't feel confident enough to post it publicly drop me a DM. I would love to hear from you❤️💜🖤💙
