What if your inability to receive is affecting more than just you?
We often think refusing a gift, a compliment, help or an act of kindness is a sign of humility.
“Oh, you didn't have to.”
“It's really not necessary.”
“I can't accept that.”
“I’m fine, really.”
But what if there is something else happening underneath?
When someone gifts something to you, they're not only offering you something.
They're gifting you a piece of their generosity.
Their appreciation.
Their love.
Their time.
Their energy.
Their joy of gifting.
And when you continually push that away, you may unintentionally take away their opportunity to experience the joy of gifting.
Think about it…
How does it feel when you genuinely want to gift something beautiful to someone you love, and they won't let you?
It can actually hurt.
Not because they didn't want the gift.
But because you wanted to gift.
✨ Receiving is not selfish.
✨ Receiving doesn't make you needy.
✨ Receiving doesn't mean you owe someone something in return.
Sometimes receiving is simply allowing another person to experience the joy of gifting.
And perhaps gifting and receiving are not two separate things at all.
They are part of the same beautiful flow.
So the next time someone compliments you…
Receive it.
Someone offers to help…
Receive it.
Someone wants to gift you something beautiful…
Receive it.
Instead of immediately saying, “You shouldn't have,” try:
“Thank you. I receive it.”
And perhaps you'll discover that receiving isn't about taking.
It's about allowing the energy of gifting and receiving to flow.
Because when you allow yourself to receive, you are also allowing someone else to experience the joy of gifting.
And isn't that part of living a joyful life? 🌸
💗 What are you willing to receive today that you could never allowed yourself to receive yet?
