As parents, it’s natural to want to see progress quickly, we get excited when our little ones take on new challenges and we want those milestones to come as soon as possible. 💙
But swimming is not a “one size fits all” journey. Every child learns differently, and sometimes the best progress happens when we allow them to move at a pace that feels safe and comfortable for them. When a child is pushed too hard or feels pressured, it can actually create fear in the water and slow down their confidence.
At ZaKaMa Swim School, we believe in building trust, celebrating the small wins, and creating an environment where children feel supported and not rushed. 🐠
Because the truth is, the foundation of swimming isn’t just strokes or kicks, it’s confidence, joy, and safety. And when those things are in place, the technical skills come naturally.
So if your child is taking smaller steps right now, know that those steps are still progress and they’re laying the groundwork for a strong, confident swimmer in the future. 🌟
Let’s cheer them on every splash of the way! 💦

It's important to prioritize the color of your children's swimsuits over style or design, as it can make a difference in their safety underwater.
Drowning is a serious risk for young children, with it being the leading cause of death for those aged 1 to 4 years old.
Contrary to popular belief, drowning is a silent and quick process, not like what is often depicted in movies.
Some swimsuit colors can blend in with the water, making it difficult to spot a struggling child, while others stand out more effectively.
Taking precautions, such as choosing brightly colored swimsuits, can help prevent drowning incidents in children.
Alive Solutions conducted a test to determine which swimsuit colors are most visible in water, providing valuable insights for parents looking to keep their children safe while swimming as seen below:

To ensure the safety of children at the beach, constant supervision is key; always keep them within sight and in reach, particularly if they're young or inexperienced swimmers. Teach them about the dangers of strong currents and instruct them to stay within designated swimming areas where lifeguards are present. Additionally, applying waterproof sunscreen, ensuring they stay hydrated, and educating them about marine life can prevent sunburns, dehydration, and potentially dangerous encounters, keeping their beach experience both fun and safe.

Floating on your back in a pool, often referred to as a back float (star fish float), is a critical survival skill that could potentially save your life in a water emergency. By lying flat on your back, spreading your arms and legs slightly, and gently tilting your head back, your body becomes buoyant, allowing you to float effortlessly. This position conserves energy and keeps your head above water, enabling you to breathe easily and remain calm until help arrives or until you can safely swim to the edge of the pool or shore.
