Sometimes bad things lead to good experiences - today a cash in transit heist closed my normal road home from Eshowe. We had to take the much longer route through the hills and valleys. But I was blessed with incredible vistas, a magical sunset and a reminder of the beauty of Zululand.

Another Ballito Pro under the belt and it was an absolute banger! Waves fired all week long, I got hammered but redeemed myself after the final with a proper tube! Worked with a stellar crew of amazing people and got to reconnect with awesome people that I love. Huge thank you to Collette Bundy and Paul Canning TRAVIS LOGIE Tasha Mentasti 🇿🇦🏄🏼‍♀️ Luq Bru for always having Meg and I. Lastly my wife Megan Williams is amazing and she now is most popular person at the Pro - I am just some old commentator 😂👌

It was a bitter sweet reunion with Pro Surfing and commentary at the this last week. So incredible to see old and new faces, sit in the booth and do what I love and then get to watch a kid I have watched and commentated on since forever, step up and win the event at home. Afterwards, feeling quite a sense of loss and sadness that I have to wait a full year to experience it again. But, eternally grateful for the opportunity and to be part of such a historic event. Huge thank you to for having me and to everyone else involved. It was a magical event. Viva South Africa! Viva .thompsson 🇿🇦❤️
