Mobelli end-of-year team-building with Paddlesnappers 11/12/2018

Mobelli, known for their exquisite comforts to enjoy indoor and outdoor living, took a seat of a different kind, when a team of about 20 of their staff took a seat in a dragon boat to energize their end-of-year party with some paddling and racing action. Split into two boats, the newly anointed Snappers and Dragons crews showed a competitive spirit and had barrels of fun.

Paddlesnappers is proud to have hosted Mobelli and shared our dragon boating love. We thank all snappers who turned up on Sunday to make this possible – Tracy, Nigel, Dino, Prudence, Ninah, Faeeza, Jacques, Shamielah, Sarah and Justine.

Jacques gets a special mention for the highest paddling attendance for this year. Well Done Jacques! Geluk 😊

Commitment is the fuel that keeps us going and getting stronger. Let's all contribute consistently to the fuel of our success in 2019!

Thanks Shamielah for the pic!

End-of-year paddling awards 09/12/2018

And the Winner is ... well, we're all Winners to be part of this incredible paddling family. As another year edges to a close we celebrate each crew member for their unique "nawti" or "niceness" and the spirit they bring to the team that keeps us coming back year after year for more.

Special thanks to Shamielah and Kashief for the pics!

Eat, paddle, laugh 😊 ... that's us. So true to form, we came together last night to celebrate another year of our paddling family. Over the year, we've had to say goodbye to some members, but we're excited about the new blood in the team, and glad some of them could have joined us last night for our Chinese-inspired braai.

We're also thrilled that Judy Wilson officially returned to the paddling fold, and hope that Kashief and Claude will soon take their paddling places again, once their injuries have upped and gone.

A roster of thanks yous for last night:
- To Justine and Bruce for making their lovely home our home.
- To Tracy and Ninah for orchestrating "behind the scenes" and presenting the awards of mugs and certificates and cookies.
- And to everyone who contributed in sweet & savoury 😘😘

End of year doesn't mean end of paddling ... so we'll be on the water till 2019 comes to greet us!

WATCH: This is the new record for the world's longest dragon boat 13/11/2018

179 paddlers in one dragon boat? That's exactly what has achieved, setting a new record for the world's longest dragon boat at 87.3m, which beats China's previous 2016 record of 77.7m.

Clearly, "keep it long' has a whole different meaning in the some parts of the world 🀣
