1,000 miles, one vision, a story still being written...

Every great journey begins somewhere.

Ours began in 2022, with a vision to create something South Africa had never quite experienced before.

A grand touring rally inspired by the legendary endurance events of a bygone era, reimagined against the extraordinary backdrop of the Western Cape.

The idea was never simply to drive 1,000 miles.

It was to make every mile mean something.

To bring together generations of motoring history. To discover roads that remind us why we fell in love with driving. To turn strangers into friends, and five days into stories that would be told for years to come.

But somewhere along those winding mountain passes, coastal roads and unforgettable finish lines, something bigger began to take shape.

A community. A tradition. A legacy.

And one with a purpose beyond the journey itself.

Through the generosity of our entrants and partners, the 2026 Cape 1000 raised more than R300,000 for the Motorsport Legends Benevolent Fund and the QuadPara Association of South Africa.

Today, that original South African vision has earned its place on the international stage.

The Cape 1000 has been shortlisted for Rally or Tour of the Year at the 2026 International Historic Motoring Awards in London.

An extraordinary milestone for an event that began with a dream just a few years ago.

Yet perhaps the most remarkable part of our story isn't how far we've come.

It's how many people have become part of it along the way.

And with the next chapter awaiting us from 20–25 March 2027, our story is far from finished.

1,000 MILES. ONE VERY BIG STATEMENT!

There are historic motoring events around the world that have spent decades building their reputations.

And then there's a rather extraordinary journey through the Western Cape that has found its place among them.

The Cape 1000 has been named among just six events shortlisted for Rally or Tour of the Year at the 2026 International Historic Motoring Awards.

Six events. An international stage. And a distinctly South African name in the conversation.

Not bad for 1,000 miles at the southern tip of Africa.

Because what happens here is difficult to replicate elsewhere. The landscapes, the hospitality, the people, the atmosphere, and that unmistakable feeling of being part of something exceptional.

It's an experience that has always spoken for itself.

Now, the world is listening.

Voormalige Springbok Warren Brosnihan het by Arnold ingeskakel om te vertel wat vir 2027 beplan word. Hy ry self saam en tree ook as seremoniemeester op. 🚗

Dis nie 'n wedren nie. Die geleentheid kombineer presisie-ritafdelings met van die mooiste paaie in die land. Die roete loop deur Franschhoek en die Overberg en eindig met 'n podium by die V&A Waterfront.

Die Cape 1000 is ook 'n finalis vir Rally or Tour of the Year by die 2026 International Historic Motoring Awards.

Today, we are incredibly proud to share a milestone in the Cape 1000 story.

THE CAPE 1000 HAS BEEN NAMED A FINALIST FOR RALLY OR TOUR OF THE YEAR at the prestigious 2026

To be recognised on an international stage, alongside some of the finest names and events in historic motoring, is an extraordinary honour for a rally born on the roads of South Africa.

But the Cape 1000 has always been about more than the destination.

It's about the people who bring it to life. The friendships forged over a thousand miles. The stories shared, the memories made, and the passion for motoring heritage that connects us across generations and continents.

This recognition belongs to every entrant, every partner, every supporter and every member of the Cape 1000 family who has helped turn a vision into something truly special.

On 13 November 2026, the international historic motoring community will gather at The Peninsula London Hotel, where the winners will be announced.

Whatever the outcome, one thing is certain: South African motoring has earned its place on the world stage.

And our journey is only just beginning.

It's the anticipation at the start line. The early mornings. The unexpected conversations at every stop. The laughter over dinner, the friendships that begin as strangers and the stories that somehow get better every time they're told.

It's watching the Cape unfold one incredible road at a time, surrounded by people who share a passion for adventure and the extraordinary.

And just when you think you've experienced it all, the Cape 1000 finds a way to surprise you again.

60 years old. 1,000 miles. Not a trailer in sight. 🇬🇧🔥

Whoever said classic cars belong in museums clearly haven't met Team 204.

Back in March, their weapon of choice for the CAPE 1000 was a breathtaking 1966 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 Roadster arguably one of the most beautiful shapes ever to roll out of Britain.

And what a sight it was!

That impossibly long bonnet sweeping through mountain passes. The unmistakable soundtrack of a Jaguar straight-six echoing off the cliffs. Top down, clouds hanging low over the mountains, and some of South Africa's finest driving roads unfolding ahead.

No glass display case. No velvet ropes. Just 1,000 miles of doing exactly what this Jaguar was built to do.

Six decades after leaving the factory, this British icon was still turning heads, chasing horizons and proving that some driving experiences simply never go out of style.

Because owning a piece of automotive history is one thing. Taking it on a 1,000-mile adventure through the Western Cape? That's an entirely different level of passion.

Now, here's a question for the classic car enthusiasts… 👀

No roof. No windows. No hiding from the elements.

Just a Porsche 356 Speedster Outlaw, the open road and four days of Cape 1000 adventure.

Running in the Specials category at the 2026 Cape 1000, this 356 Speedster Outlaw was probably one of the purest ways to experience the rally. Wind in your face, sun overhead, rain when the weather decided otherwise, you didn’t simply drive this car through the Cape. You experienced every kilometre of it.

And that was exactly the point.

A 356 Speedster already takes you back to an era when driving was far more mechanical, analogue and connected. Turn it into an Outlaw and suddenly there’s almost nothing separating driver, machine and road.

No climate control.
No insulated cabin.
Definitely no bad-weather button.

Just character, noise, fresh air and a ridiculous amount of fun.

Among some seriously special machinery on the 2026 Cape 1000, this little Porsche proved that you didn’t need the most power or even a roof to create one of the rally’s most memorable experiences.

And months after crossing the finish line, there’s one detail we love seeing: it’s still carrying its Cape 1000 badge with pride.

A small reminder of four unforgettable days, some incredible roads and one very special adventure.

Stand in one place long enough at the Cape 1000 and automotive history will drive straight past you.

First, the air-cooled Porsche 911 compact, mechanical and unmistakably old-school.

Then comes the Lamborghini Diablo. Low, wide, unapologetically ’90s and still looking outrageous more than three decades after it first appeared.

A Ferrari V12 follows, front-engined, long-bonneted Italian theatre from a completely different school of performance.

And then the modern Porsche Cayman GT4, showing just how far the performance car has evolved while still following a formula enthusiasts have chased for generations: engine, chassis, driver, road.

What makes these photographs special is that nothing changes except the car.

The mountains stay still.
The water stays still.
The photographer stays still.

Time is the thing moving through the frame.

At the Cape 1000, the generations don't just park alongside one another.

They drive the same roads.
