The kids got some new drills to challenge their timing and co-ordination which can always be tricky to get right first time: but that's pretty much the point.
Every new skill, new drill, and new movement, no matter how perfectly or awkwardly executed, is just data. It's simply more information, never a judgment.
Learn to move by learning about how your body sways in different shapes and at different speeds. And you'll learn to move better, for life, in everything.

Effort is only half the battle but if your biomechanics are fighting you, you’ll never reach your top gear.
That's not to say you have to be text-book perfect.
There are just too many examples of world class athletes with less than perfect technical form but still operating perfectly within their biomechanics.
We are all perfectly and beautifully flawed, which is part of what makes movement so exciting.
The integration of any one particular skill is not just about "forcing" it on the athlete just because that's what all the fitness influencers say.
That's not coaching. Sorry, but yelling louder at your athlete just doesn't work.
At The Lollypop Agency, we combine the coach's eye with technical data to unlock the athlete you’re meant to be.

* does your anatomy accommodate adaptation to the mechanical skill?
* is this the right time for you, in your season, to do it?
* are you emotionally ready for change (and no, it's got nothing to do with age)?

Winter is a great time to work on new drills and build that aerobic engine. x-country and park-runners getting the foundations done under the watchful eye of Coach Lolly. And our swimmers use the opportunity to cross-train and build some of that crucial leg strength required to "kick like a mule" 🙃

forget the obsession with "how" to get fitter, faster, stronger. the internet is already full of plans. greatness is not in what you do or how you do it: it's 100% about who you do it with.
and the "who" is not celebrity trainers or viral programs. the "who" are the tribe that fuel your joy and growth. they challenge your limits, celebrate your wins, and pull forward with love and grit.

Here we go! One week to and time to dial in all the finer details. "The hay is in the barn" as the saying goes so there's not much more fitness you can add at this stage, but you can certainly hone in and improve on your skills and your preparation.
This set also starts with some visualization so use this opportunity in your warmup to think about your put-ons and your clips before actually doing them.
Pay careful attention to what you're doing, the order, your hand placements, and which side you turn. These are details you can practice _anywhere_, _anytime_ outside the pool as well.
But most of all, celebrate your health, fitness, and progress over the year by soaking up nationals and achieving your own personal goals and wishing you the happiest competition ever!
