Silent Steps was initiated eleven years ago to raise funds for the National Institute for the Deaf.

What started as a solo, unsupported 27 day, 570km hike along the Skeleton Coast of Namibia, evolved into a fully fletched hiking business over the past ten years. The initial fundraising activity was a 570km unsupported walk up the Skeleton Coast of Namibia undertaken by Anette Grobler. After the walk Ms Grobler received several requests from people wanting to undertake similar ‘off the beaten tr

❤️

To the woman who carried everyone else —
today, the trail is yours.

You have spent years making sure everyone else got where they needed to go. School runs, late nights, packed lunches, held hands, dried tears.

You showed up — every single time — often before anyone thought to ask.

Today we just want to say this:
The strength it takes to raise a human being quietly, consistently, without applause — that is the same strength that gets you to the top of a mountain. The same strength that puts one foot in front of the other when the path gets hard. The same strength that finishes things.
You already have it.

You always have.

So when you’re ready — when the kids are older, when the house is quieter, when a little voice inside you says it’s my turn now — we’ll be here.

With a trail that’s been waiting for you.

With a group of people who will walk beside you.

With a view at the end that will make everything feel exactly the right size.

Silent Steps. Walk with us.
🌿 Tag a mom who deserves a trail day.

📍Shoreline of the San, West Coast

Bad weather and stormy seas—but we’re embracing every moment of the Shoreline of the San hike west coast hike. This coastline doesn’t slow down just because the weather turns. There’s always something happening out there.

From the wild, wave-battered shores between Elands Bay and Strandfontein, you’ve got a stretch packed with character:

👉Ancient rock art sites tucked into caves and overhangs
👉Birdlife everywhere—especially around Verlorenvlei
👉Rugged cliffs, hidden coves, and endless Atlantic views
👉Fishing villages with proper West Coast soul and stories
👉Spring wildflowers (when in season) that completely transform the landscape

It’s not polished—and that’s exactly the point.

The West Coast gives you raw, real, and constantly changing scenery. One moment it’s misty and moody, the next it opens up into something breathtaking.

To encapsulate “The West Coast never runs out of stories—every step reveals something new, wild, and unforgettable, and we got to experience this first hand!”

The Death Acre Dash – Angola
14–23 April 2027
This is not just another hike.
This is 100km through the raw beauty and isolation of the Namib Desert over 5 unforgettable days.
Our Death Acre Dash is intentionally exclusive. We will take no more than 20 hikers on this journey through one of the harshest and most spectacular landscapes on earth.
At this stage: • 9 spots are already booked
• Another 15 people have indicated that they want to join
Unfortunately, only a deposit secures your place. Interest alone cannot hold a spot, and once the 20 places are filled, bookings will close.
If Angola’s endless desert landscapes, shipwreck coastlines, silence, challenge and adventure are calling your name — now is the time.
The desert does not wait. 🌍🔥

"I’ve been on the Tipwreck trail and Shoreline of the San with friends. Both trails were beautiful, logistics perfect, guides knowledgeable, excellent drivers and lovely ladies who red each group so well. I recommend these trails to everyone looking for safe, beautiful, catered, eco friendly and community friendly slackpacking trails. 10 stars." - Di Boynton

Thank you, Di, we really appreciate it! 🤩

Follow the San kon op hierdie stap netsowel ‘Follow the Sun’ gewees het—sonskyn was skaars, maar met elke verskyning het ons hom deeglik ingewag! ☀️.

Just two hours after our 16 Mile beach group of hikers departed, battling the wind and chill at Yzerfontein, Silent Steps set off again—this time beginning our Shoreline of the San journey with a different group at Elandsbay.

We left as the moon dipped below the horizon, stepping quietly into the first light of a brand-new day.

What a contrast… from wild and blustery to absolute perfection. Calm air, open skies, and miles of untouched coastline ahead—ideal hiking conditions and the promise of an unforgettable adventure along the West Coast.

Off we go into a windy, chilly start at Yzerfontein — the beginning of our 16 Mile Beach adventure. The next 25.74 km stretch toward Tsaarsbank is set to test us… wind in our faces, sand underfoot, and the vast West Coast stretching endlessly ahead.

But that’s the magic of it — every step earned, every gust felt, every moment alive. 🌊💨

Here’s to grit, laughter, and the kind of challenge that turns into stories.
