People always ask me why I spend so much time rucking.

The truth is, it’s one of the most underrated forms of exercise especially as we get older.

Rucking is simply walking with a weighted backpack, but don’t underestimate it. It builds strength, improves your cardiovascular fitness, strengthens your bones, challenges your core and burns more calories than a normal walk.

What I like most is that it’s functional. You’re not just exercising for the sake of exercising you’re training your body to do the things life actually demands of it. Carrying your kids, hiking, travelling, working, or just staying strong and independent as you age.

You also don’t need to run yourself into the ground to get fitter. Start with a comfortable weight, walk at a steady pace and build up over time. Consistency will always beat going too hard too soon.

Sometimes the simplest things give you the biggest return.

Would you give rucking a try?

Client Spotlight: Priscilla 💙

For almost *10 year*, it’s been an absolute privilege to be part of Priscilla’s health journey.

Over the years, she’s immigrated to **two different countries**, yet every time she’s back in South Africa, she makes time to book an appointment with me. That level of trust is something I never take for granted.

As a radiographer who trains regularly, Priscilla understands the importance of looking after her body. Whether it’s recovering from pain, improving movement, or addressing a new concern, we’ve worked together through different stages of her life.

Thank you, Priscilla, for your continued trust and for sharing your experience. Clients like you are the reason I love what I do.

If you’ve been living with pain, recurring injuries, or movement limitations, you don’t have to accept them as “normal.” Let’s work together to get you moving with confidence again.

Releasing Restrictions in the Achilles & Calf

🏃 Tight calves? Stiff Achilles? Let’s restore movement.

Restrictions in the calf muscles and Achilles tendon can reduce ankle mobility, alter your walking or running mechanics, and contribute to pain in the foot, ankle or even the knee.

Treatment may include:
✔️ Soft tissue release
✔️ Mobility techniques
✔️ Movement retraining
✔️ Individualised exercises

Releasing restrictions is only one part of the process. The long-term goal is to improve movement, reduce pain and help keep the problem from returning.

Palpation for Pain
🖐️ Pain has a story, your body helps tell it.

Palpation is more than simply pressing on a painful area.

It helps identify:
• Areas of tenderness
• Muscle tension
• Swelling
• Tissue quality
• Structures that may be contributing to your symptoms

Combined with your history and movement assessment, it helps build a clearer picture of what’s causing your pain.

Every assessment is individual because every person experiences pain differently.

With nearly 20 years of experience in my field, I’ve learned that no two people are the same and neither are their assessments.

There has never been a one-size-fits-all approach to rehabilitation, which is why I’ve continually expanded and refined my skill set over the years. By becoming proficient in a range of therapeutic techniques, I’m able to tailor each treatment plan to the individual, ensuring every patient receives the care that’s best suited to their unique needs.

Every assessment begins with listening to your story. Your physical symptoms, lifestyle, stress and emotions all matter because they can influence how pain presents.

Experience has taught me that treating people, not just injuries, leads to the best outcomes.

The Romanian Deadlift (RDL) is one of the best exercises for building strong glutes and hamstrings but only if your technique is right.

✅ Push your hips back like you’re trying to close a drawer with your butt.
✅ Keep the kettlebells close to your body, moving from your sides to directly in front of your shins in a straight line.
✅ Hinge from the hips—not the lower back.
✅ Stay balanced by maintaining three points of contact on your feet: the big toe, little toe, and heel.
✅ Brace your core throughout the movement.
✅ You should feel tension in your hamstrings and glutes, not pain in your lower back.

Remember: this isn’t about how low you can go—it’s about how well you control the movement while keeping tension where it belongs.

Train with intention. Move better. Feel stronger.
