Ziyaad Simon,
There’s so much we could say about your time with us, both on and off the field. You’ve not only been a phenomenal player but an even more remarkable person. It has been a true privilege to have you represent KCC over the years.

Your unwavering dedication, leadership, and commitment to the team were evident every single week. You carried the club with pride, heart, and integrity—qualities that earned you the honour of leading us. Your loyalty never went unnoticed, and your presence has left a lasting impact on every one of us.

You’ve been more than just a teammate—you’re a brother, a leader, and a lifelong member of the KCC family. While we say farewell for now, this is not goodbye—it’s simply “see you later.”

We wish you all the best in your future endeavours.
Thank you, Ziyaad.

With appreciation,
The KCC Family

A tough past weekend for KCC🫠

Our 1st XI took on Wynberg, away on Saturday. Bowling first, we were on the front foot as we restricted Wynberg in the first 20 overs, but it slowly started slipping away from us. Wynberg then ended on 223/9 in their 50 overs. Our pick of the bowlers is with figures of 10 overs, going for 42 runs and taking 4 wickets. Going into bat, we knew we had to lock in. After losing an early wicket, our batsmen looked to build partnerships and that we did here and there but it wasn't enough in the end. We were eventually bowled out for 162. The pick of the batsmen was for his unbeaten knock of 42*.

Our 2nds faced Sherwood Park at home. They opted to bowl first and after starting off well, it slipped away from us. Sherwood Park ended up on 240/7 in their 40 overs. Going into bat, it was always going to be difficult, but we were ready for a fight. Unfortunately, it did not go our way with the batting as we were bowled out for 33. A tough day out for the 2nds but we'll bounce back💪

The 1st XI faced Atlantis at home on Sunday. We elected to bat first. A few good partnerships were had, but in the end, we were bowled out for 118. Going into bowl, we looked to make it as difficult as possible for the batsmen. We ended up taking 5 wickets before Atlantis claimed the points.

A frustrating weekend all around, but lots of lessons learnt. We know where we went wrong, we know where to improve and we know what we need to do to come back stronger💪🔥🙌

🚨Weekend results🚨

This past Saturday, our 1st XI took on Atlantis CC away. We won the toss and selected to bowl first. With a brilliant performance from all our bowlers, we restricted Atlantis to 96. Special mention to Jean Pierre Johnson, who bagged 4 wickets for 17 runs in 7 overs🔥 Going into bat, we lost a few wickets easily, but we still came out on top easing to a 6 wicket, bonus point victory. Shoutout to Tasleem Bassadien for his great knock of 40*(37). A good day at the office for our 1st team💪🙌

Our 2nds, unfortunately, did not play on Saturday due to a wet pitch, and the points were shared with Strandfontein CC.🤝

On Sunday, the 2nd XI faced Bonteheuwel CC away. Bowling first, our boys struggled with only 2 of our bowlers taking wickets. Our captain, Gareth Verwey, had a brilliant spell bowling 8 overs, going for 38 runs and taking 5 wickets🔥 Joshua Kennedy supported the skipper by taking 4 wickets in 8 overs and going for 29 runs💪 In the end, Bonteheuwel ended on 202/9 in their 40 overs. Going into bat, we knew it was going to be difficult, but we knew we could do it. With the constant loss of wickets, we never really looked in control but brilliant batting from Brent Smith ending up on 39 and Jared Saaiman ending up on 20 got us close to the target but in the end, the loss of wickets proved to be our downfall. We ended up on 161/9 in our 40 overs. Nit the result we wanted but still a great fight by our boys. Lot's more to come from the lads.🫡🦅

🚨Weekend results🚨

This past weekend, our 1st XI faced Bergvliet CC at home. We batted first, and with a brilliant team performance, we ended up on 210/8 in our 50 overs. Shoutout to Aidan Saaiman for his great knock of 72*(80). Going into bowl, there was no pressure on our shoulders. Our bowlers did their job and we eventually bowled Bergvliet out for 155, claiming a bonus point victory. A great win for our 1st XI, keep on fighting and on to the next one.💪🔥

Our 2nds did not play on Saturday as their game was rescheduled.

On Sunday, our 2nds were at home against Cravenby CC. We bowled first, and with great individual bolwing performances, we restricted Cravenby to 187/8 in their 40 overs. Going into bat, we had a great start, losing our first wicket at 49 runs and our second wicket at 118, leaving us in the driving seat. Unfortunately, after the loss of our second wicket, we kept on losing wickets and were eventually bowled out for 153. Shoutout to Adli Mokwa for his brilliant knock of 64(70). A good fight by our 2nds with bat and ball. We go again next week.🙌🦅

A great weekend for our 1sts and a great learning opportunity for our 2nds. Lots more hard work to put in and lots more achievements to get. Onwards and upwards.🦅❤️‍🔥💪

On Saturday, our 1st XI faced Yorkshire CC. Going into bat first, we had a great opening partnership between Ziyaad Simon and Adli Mokwa of 53 before the first wicket was lost. After that, we struggled to continue the work of the openers and lost wickets regularly, eventually ending up on 118 all-out. Going into bowl, we had our eyes on the prize and looked to make it a difficult chase for Yorkshire. Yorkshire started off strong but we took vital wickets in important moments but the momentum stayed with Yorkshire as they claimed the victory by 6 wickets.

Our 2nds were at home against Bellville CC this past Saturday. We batted first, and with a few good knocks here and there, we ended up on 119 all out. Our bowlers then knew the task at hand. Bellville had the upper hand because our bowlers struggled to take wickets, and in the end, Bellville claimed the victory by 7 wickets.

On Sunday, our firsts were up against Bergvliet CC. We bowled first, and with a good bowling attack, we had Bergvliet 127/7 in the 34th over, but with a few late partnerships from Bergvliet, they ended up on 201/10 in 49 overs. Going into bat, we looked to get the victory as soon as possible, but unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be. In the end, we were bowled out for 83.

A tough weekend all around for KCC but even in the negatives, there are positives to take out and embrace. Onto the next. Onwards and upwards.🙌🦅🏏
