🌊 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS COUNTDOWN 🌊
The 2026 ICF Canoe Ocean Racing World Championships get underway in La Vila Joiosa, Spain 🇪🇸, in just over two weeks, from 9–11 October 2026.
South Africa will have a super strong team on the start line ready to battle it out for World Championship titles.
Good luck to 🇿🇦TEAM RSA and all our WCCU contenders, your taper is underway and soon it’ll be time to swap training sessions for start line feels and some serious racing! 🌊🔥

The City of Cape Town is beginning drilling today, 16 September, as part of a pilot project to test whether saline groundwater can be pumped into the Milnerton Lagoon to improve water quality and environmental conditions.

Drilling will take place over the next two weeks, with water expected to be added to the lagoon in early October. The intervention will then be monitored for six months to assess its environmental and technical performance.

Beachgoers are asked to avoid the work areas while construction is under way.

Ever wonder what your fellow WCCU members get up to when they’re not training or competing ON the water? 🤔
Well, they take the competition INTO the ocean! 🌊😂
Last weekend saw some tight racing for the podium spots in the Fish Hoek Mile open water swimming race with Jaydon “Bug” Allott [u14] taking the win with an epic body surf onto the beach!
Sam Mocke [u18] and Jarryd Cole [u16] weren’t far behind, body surfing the waves in, in hot pursuit.
