Happy Birthday to the legend that is Mr Philip Key! 🎉
Back in 1989, while still working as a soundman, Philip sat around a kitchen table with a friend and came up with the name Moonlighting to service a French commercial shoot. The rest, as they say, is history.
From running one of South Africa’s first production service companies and helping put the country on the map as a world-class filming destination, to exporting South African expertise to Romania and Chile, and later moving into the world of sports content alongside his sons, Philip has remained a highly respected pioneer and stalwart of our industry.
What has never changed is his curiosity, entrepreneurial spirit and ability to spot an opportunity where others see a challenge.
Wishing you the happiest of birthdays, Philip, and many more adventures ahead.
With love from your very extended (and rather widespread) Moonlighting family. 💛

Fast Forward to July ☀️If you’re looking for Mediterranean summer with South African-style production value, don’t forget Croatia.
From European towns and winding streets to glorious golden beaches, castles and waterfalls, Croatia offers an incredible range of locations. Add architecture that spans medieval, Soviet-era and contemporary styles, and there’s plenty to work with.

5 Reasons To Shoot in Johannesburg 🎬
If you haven’t shot in Joburg in winter, here are 5 great reasons to consider our sister city this season:
💛 Locations: A proper mix of old and new. From classic city architecture and downtown streets to gritty industrial spaces, and then straight out into golden savannah and wide African landscapes.
💛 Energy: Vibey, a little gritty, and always efficient.
💛 Climate: Winter is a win. By June/July the rains are done, leaving clear, sunny days — dry, crisp and very shoot-friendly (just bring a jacket).
💛 Talent: A deep and diverse talent pool across the board.
💛 Light: Lower sun, longer shadows and that warm golden light that just works on camera.

What’s for lunch, Poppy? 🍲
On the menu today, Poppy’s legendary butter chicken (let’s be honest, anything Poppy cooks is legendary), served with rice and butternut with just a hint of cinnamon.
The kind of lunch that slows everyone down for a minute… and then sends everyone back to their desks happy. 💛
Made with love at Poppy’s Diner!

The Waterfront can be a quick call-in or easily a full day if you let it. Here are 5 Things not to miss when visiting the V&A Waterfront:
💛 Zeitz MOCAA: An iconic architectural gem carved out of an old silo, housing ever-changing contemporary art. Worth it for the building alone. Stop at the Silo Café afterwards for a treat — and some of the best views over the Waterfront.
💛 Robben Island: An essential historical excursion. Walk in the footsteps of Nelson Mandela, Walter Sisulu, Ahmed Kathrada and many others who were imprisoned here during Apartheid. Many of the guides are former political prisoners — their stories are unforgettable. Allow for the 30-minute boat trip each way.
💛 Time Out Market: Food markets, but elevated. Top chefs, big flavours, and something for everyone — perfect when no one can decide what they feel like eating.
💛 Oranjezicht Farmers Market: Now comfortably at home at the Waterfront. A bustling weekend market — go early, go hungry, and be prepared to queue (it’s worth it).
💛 The Cape Wheel: Cape Town’s take on the London Eye — for sweeping 360° views of the city, ocean and mountains.
