• STORY TIME • Carlo Natali doesn’t do social media, but he sent us a nice blow-by-blow account of how this all went down. Enjoy:

While walking along a pristine stretch of beach on South Island, St. Barts, he spotted what he was looking for. “This is GT country,” he pondered to himself…

A shallow sand spit had formed some ways out, leaving a deeper, darker gully of water in close to the beach, while further out a shallow reef ran parallel to the beach.

Snapping on a 150mm 70g Mayday Reef Rocket Popper he prepared for battle…

The first cast stirred the pot and the second one did the trick, as a Geet exploded on the lure mere moments after it hit the water.

Chaos followed as the fish raced for the reef 80 meter or so out from where Carlo was.

After 25 long minutes and a good 200 meter shuffle along the beach he finally managed to start easing the fish in on a risky setup of 50lb braid and 80lb leader.

When safely in hand the fish measured a solid 112cms with an estimated weight of around 30kg.

Talk about one for the memory bank! Good on you Carlo, and thanks for trusting us on the end of your line…
