🌳🏉Bosch SACS derby weekend! First XV on Saturday at 12h10 on the Tinkie Heyns Field, streamed by SuperSportSchools.

Bosch vs SACS, a brief history
🏉 Rondebosch rugby started 120 years ago in 1906 – before then we were mainly a soccer playing school, with some cricket also being played, usually on Rondebosch Common. It was only in May 1921 when the first Rondebosch vs SACS derby was played. In that inaugural fixture at Newlands SACS were the victors, 16-9. A match was not played in 1922 and in 1923 Rondebosch won 19-8, also at Newlands. Newlands was a popular venue for school matches, presumably partially due to the proximity of the station – SACS was at the time located near the Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town so trains were often used by boys and coaches to reach match venues.

🏉 The two First XVs have met 188 times, mostly playing twice a year, with the exception in recent years when SACS’s fields were water logged in 2001, in 2009 when there was a flu pandemic, and sadly in 2020 and 2021 for obvious reasons. In 2001, although the U15 to U19s could not play at SACS, the U14s played on Rugby A (now the Tinkie Heyns Field).

🏉The Rondebosch First XV has won 139, lost 40 & drawn 9 matches. Over the last 10 years there have been 17 encounters, of which Rondebosch won 14, lost 2 and drew 1.

Join us on Saturday for the home first derby of 2026!

Bosch vs Wynberg this Saturday...

First game of the season.

Pulling on the Rondebosch Boys' High School Rugby jersey means something. It’s about the guys next to you, the work you’ve put in, and the pride that comes with representing something bigger than yourself.

When you run out onto the field this weekend, remember, you’re not just playing as a team; you’re playing as a brotherhood!

Be physical. Be disciplined. Back each other.
Win the small moments, and the big ones will follow...

Play for each other, but most importantly, play the Bosch way!
