Letter to the Editor

I am writing to express my disappointment and disapproval of the decision by Standards RFC to refuse playing against a team consisting of prisoners. This decision is short-sighted and neglects the positive impact that sports can have on rehabilitation and social reintegration.

Sports have long been recognized as a powerful tool for building character, promoting teamwork, and fostering a sense of community. By denying prisoners the opportunity to participate in a rugby match, Standards RFC is not only depriving them of a chance to engage in a positive and constructive activity, but also perpetuating harmful stereotypes and stigmatization.

I urge Standards RFC to reconsider their decision and embrace the chance to make a positive impact on the lives of these individuals. Let us work together to create a more inclusive and compassionate society.
