Hey Everyone

Sorry we have been so quiet....
Winter has been in full swing...β„πŸŒŠπŸŒ¨πŸŒ§πŸŒ¬πŸŒͺ🌧 and the waters of False bay have been rather chilly.

We ran a limited addition promotion from the 1st June 2021 to the 1st of August 2021 of a Personalized 2 adult snorkeling experience .00 per person, which had sadly just ended, but keep in touch with us as we will run it again on good weather days and or availability inbetween our children's lessons.

We are in the process of preparing our children's lessons from this Spring or as soon as the water temperatures of False Bay warm up.... *ββββ˜€οΈ**Please view our Photo Albums on our page Ocean Child for more information****β˜€οΈβββ

Here's two of our clients. A wonderful couple that experienced our snorkel adventure last Sunday 1 Aug πŸŒπŸ’™πŸŒŠπŸ¦ˆπŸŸπŸ
We went to the stunning Windmill Beach, and got to witness numerous friendly Pyjama Sharks, Puffadder shy sharks, and Dark shy sharks along with a diverse selection of reef fish and the beautiful African underwater Kelp forest 🌊🐟🐠🦈🌱🌿

Thank you Hannah and Warren for the awesome morning in the ocean and the super 5⭐ review. We really appreciate it πŸ™πŸŒŠπŸ’™

Looking forward to some Warmer Weather!
Much Ocean Love

Ben's Birthday πŸ’™πŸŒŠβ˜€οΈπŸ¦ˆπŸŸπŸŒβ™»οΈ
At Ocean Child Snorkeling Adventures

08 May 2021
We ended our summer season off with a beautiful birthday for BenπŸ’™πŸŒŠβ˜€οΈπŸ¦ˆπŸŸπŸŒβ™»οΈ

11 students had such fun in the ocean and we managed to interact safely and gently with Dave the Pyjama Cat Shark, witness all 3 fish species we chat about in the classroom, a few starfish and numerous beautiful anemone's.

You know you're changing perspectives about sharks when everyone is excited to hop into the water to swim with and meet "Dave" the Pyjama Shark. Maddie one of our studnets on the day, we have had in a previous lesson,
and her huge smile and excited facial expressions when interacting with these friendly cat sharks are just priceless.

Ben the birthday boy is going to definitely be my dive buddy in the future, when diving with all Shark species around the world. He was such a natural and so incredibly comfortable in the water.

Unfortunately during our winter months here in Cape Town the ocean water temperatures drop a little low for our students to feel comfortable, in the chilly conditions. Our top priorities at Ocean Child is Safety and Comfortability for our children in the ocean environment.

We will be continuing our lessons towards Spring 2021 September.
Stay tuned, as we have loads of new equipment, we have new venues and new ocean environments to explore.

We are making positive changes for the sustainability of our Oceans and our Planet through educating the future generation of this world, in the most fun and enjoyable environment.

Thank you once again to everyone that has supported Ocean Child this season and always.
My life's passion, for children, for the ocean, for this planet, and everyone and everything living here. Live a positive impactful lifestyle. πŸ’™πŸŒŠβ˜€οΈπŸ¦ˆπŸŸπŸŒβ™»οΈ

Hey All our Ocean Child Adventurers! πŸŒŠπŸ’™πŸ˜Šβ˜€οΈπŸ›₯πŸŸπŸŒβ™»οΈ

We are slowly coming to the end of our Summer Season....πŸ˜”πŸ˜”

The water temperatures in False Bay - Cape Town have significantly dropped and we are sadly having to end our snorkeling lessons for the little ones for this summer, as soon as our environmental conditions improve towards Spring- August-September we are going to have the most epic Summer of 2021 into 2022!!!

NEW EQUIPMENT NEW VENUES AND NEW ADVENTURES! πŸŒπŸŸπŸ’™πŸŒŠπŸ πŸ¬πŸŸπŸ‹πŸ³πŸ¦ˆ

Our last few booked lessons/parties will be taking place on the 3rd and 8th of May. (Parents have been notified of the water chill factor)

Our main goal at Ocean Child is for children to have the most positive experience in the ocean with its animals, to create a love for it, to protect it into the future.
We believe that in colder conditions the smaller/younger children wont have the most positive experience and they will feel rather uncomfortable.

We always say that
Comfortability is Key!
We are highly focused on making our children as comfortable as possible with their equipment, understanding their environment and being as independent as possible in the water, with professional instructors and the highest safety measures in place.
Once they comfortable.... they have soooooooo much Fun!!!πŸŒŠπŸ˜ŠπŸ™Œbecause of the confidence they have built in the new skill they have learned.

⭐⭐⭐We have some exciting ideas for the colder period we are heading towards....
for the Women of the World⭐⭐⭐⭐
So Mom's, Girls, Best Friends, stay tuned.....
we want to Empower Women that have wanted to try Snorkleing in the Ocean for Years and create an affordable, super personallized (2-3studnets) on an Ocean Adventure. (we looking at 16years and upward)
Where you'll be able to experience diving with marine animals, our endemic cat shark species and the beautiful kelp forests of the Cape. In a safe and professional environment.
We'll have more details on this soon.... πŸŒŠπŸ’™πŸ¦ˆπŸŒβ™»οΈπŸ‹πŸŸπŸ¬πŸ πŸŒŠββββββ

Thank you everyone that has supported Ocean Child this far. We believe we have made some positive changes in our children's lives,
to not only love our Oceans,
but build their confidence in water environments
and overcome fears through Education.

Since October 2018 when Ocean Child was Established we have taught almost 500 studnets, we are looking forward to many more Ocean Child Adventures with you all πŸ’™πŸ˜Š

For our new followers.
Hi My name is Nina and I am the Founder and Owner of Ocean Child Snorkeling Adventures Cape Town.
I also work for Shark Explorers Dive Centre -Simonstown as a Captain, Dive Master, Dive Instructor and Shark Specialist.

So inbetween our Ocean Child Snorkeling Lessons I also head out to sea on nice weather days when we have clients and dive with other species of sharks here in Cape Town.
Yesterday we went offshore at 06:00am, approximately 30kilometres off Cape Point (the south western most Tip Of Africa) with a group of divers to go find the most beautiful cobalt blue Blue Sharks.
Over the last 10 years of diving offshore we have definitely seen decline of animals, which causes massive imbalance in our ecosystem, its also Due to numerous factors like overfishing, environmental changes etc.

We struggled to find our finned friends on yesterday's trip and at almost dark we managed to find 2 Blue Sharks for our clients to dive with. It was a long day and I hit land again at 19:30pm....

I do apologize having missed some enquiries yesterday, but we'll chat today and make some Ocean Experiences happen.

(P.S: the last picture was us coming home in the dark last night ...). πŸŒŠπŸ¦ˆπŸ’™β˜€οΈπŸ€™πŸ€™πŸ€™πŸ€™πŸ€™

Saturday 10th April
1pm Afternoon Snorkel Adventure
@ Long Beach Simonstown with this awesome group of studnets πŸŒŠπŸ’™β˜€οΈπŸŸπŸŒπŸ˜Š

We had 5 new students that were so sweet and curious about the Ocean Environment we were going to experience on this day.

This wonderful family travelled all the way from Parow to come and join us at Ocean Child Snorkeling Adventures and we are so grateful, we are also so happy and stoked with the amazing feedback from the Mom that the children had the beat experience ever, and that's what we are striving for πŸ˜ŠπŸŒπŸ’™πŸŒŠβ˜€οΈπŸŸπŸ¦ˆπŸŒŠβ˜€οΈπŸŸπŸ’™πŸŒβ˜€οΈπŸŸπŸ˜Š

We managed to interact and view 3 different Dark Shy sharks, ( amongst loads of other species of fish) which I think was a massive highlight for our studnets. For them to never experienced these animals before and be so confident, respectful and fearless was just amazing.
For me especially, as changing perspectives on the Ocean and its animals (like sharks) is such a positive move in the right direction.

Some of these children had never worn a wetsuit before, nor masks or snorkels and they all managed to gain this new skill in the very first lesson. Some of our students on the day were eventually snorkeling on their own with absolute natural confidence and independence.

Thank you Mandy for joining us, we are blown away by these incredible kids.

To book your lesson check out out Photo Album Section for more information.

Ocean Child Snorkeling Adventure yesterday
Thursday 08 April 2021 πŸŒŠπŸŸπŸ’™β˜€οΈπŸ˜ŠπŸŒπŸ¦ˆ

Our 5 students were absolutely amazing in the ocean yesterday! They were so natural in the water and were very extremly competent in their snorkeling skills plus super adventurous in the mini kelp forest where we found all our species of fish we spoke about in the classroom.

We were also fortunate enough to find one of our super friendly Pyjama Cat Sharks to gently and safely interact with. His name is now "Jeff" the Pyjama Cat Shark. As our studnets named him. Unfortunately i discovered once we said goodbye to Jeff..... he was a girl... 🀣🀣🀣

Male sharks have claspers, which are essentially TWO "appendages" or Male outer organs that you can see below the animal. Where the females dont have anything there, or what we call a Cloaca. See the last image for a reference.

We believe that Education is key and hope you guys learnt something interesting today about boy and girl sharks.

At Ocean Child we believe in creating positive Ocean experiences for our children will create a love for the Ocean and go on to protect ot for a sustainable planet.

Our Story

Hi my name is Nina Daniels, and this is the story of how Ocean Child came to be....

The ocean is more than just a happy place. I learnt through experience and education that, it is the reason our planet is alive! The Earth’s life support is The Ocean! The ocean regulates our climate, absorbs carbon dioxide, produces 50-80% of the worlds Oxygen, holds 97% of earth’s water, and supports the greatest abundance of life on our planet.

In my short time here, I have truly seen a change in the ocean eco-system. I’ve worked on the ocean for over a decade and experienced the environment from childhood, and just from this short period of time, witnessing how climate change is affecting our oceans, our animals, environment and our planet.

I want to make a difference, because I feel that We are able to!
