Despite H&H taking all the spoils the 4pm chargers put up a great fight. Congratulations to the 'Rainbow' on claiming the 5 points.

Damian "Tank" Christiaans crossed over for 2 tries while Kirwen Engelbrecht kept the score ticking with the boot to keep MRC in the running down to the dieing minutes.

Match day report vs Strand RFC (away) – 6 April 2019

1st XV won 29 – 28
2nd XV won 19 – 18
3rd XV lost 7 – 12
u20s lost 0 - 37

This was our u20s first match together and will continue to grow and develop a team culture. Despite the defeat our primary goal remains to develop the young rugby players in our community.

Nathan Siljeur jotted down for the 3rd team’s only try, which was converted by Garreth Frediricks. Fredericks fractured his elbow during the match; we wish him a speedy recovery. This was also a first time fielding a 3rd team in a league match.

Ivando Slingers, Mitch Martin and Evine Alexander scored for the 2nd team. 2 from 3 tries was converted by O'Ryan Standers. The second team continue their great track record in league matches.

The 1st team match proved to be a tough encounter with the lead changing hands 4 times. With Strands backline causing havoc and down to 13 men, MRC had to prove a never_die_attitude and fight back to pull this one through.

Stalwart Elton Blankenberg and newcomer Kirwen Engelbrecht scored a try each; along with the elusive Alvino “Poena” Davids jotting down twice the bonus point was secured. Kadisson Govender added the extras for 2 of 4 tries. Govender and Roman Crow kept the score board ticking with a penalty a piece.

Next week we are back at our headquarters for a fight much closer to home…
