Working on these opel heads will never feel the same again though.. Good gains we made making a few changes in specific areas finding its choking point..this head just stopped flowing from about 9mm lift..got the restrictions gone so it flowing much better on top and even improving low end flow!

The WEEKEND RACE REPORT: Race weekend started on an extreme low. Thursday evening the car starts overheating and loosing power. This is after 2 weeks of testing and doing extremely quick times! By Friday morning a decision had to be made, found a hair line crack in the block! Worst outcome we could have hoped for. By now it look like our race is done. This was the race everyone was waiting for so what can we do? It's the day before racing and we have no engine, ok no problem! Let's build him a new motor 😆. Mind you this is not your normal litte golf engine. This is probably the most powerful 4 cylinder vw engine in the country! So thats Friday morning, Saturday morning 4 am the new motor is in and starting up. Few last minute touch ups and quali is at 8am no time to test straight in to quali with startup oil in the engine. More bad luck. Clutch decide to give in so no quali time means starting right at the back. Luckily just a release bearing fork that broke, so that's quick fix. Straight into race 1 starting dead last. And this is where the extreme lows of racing becomes one of the highest highs any petrol head can ever feel 😀. Mr Harris is out on a mission driving the race of his life from dead last to finishing first!! Hugs, high fives and maybe a few tears later LOL. Drain oil, put in the race oil but Razieg saying the car Is holding back from 6k to 8k rpm. We arranged the dyno to find the car is down 20kw. We do our checks at the track I find that the ignition timing fluctuating also its running lean from 6k rpm. So just add some fuel on top and adjust timing slightly just to keep the car safe to race but power STILL DOWN. Race 2, 2nd on grid behind the super quick golf1 FSI of Shane. 2nd race must be one of the best races I ever witnessed at Killarney. Razieg finishing 0.058s behind Shane giving Razieg overhaul 1st for the day!! To think this was a race that would never have happened but Razieg's determination drive our whole team on to out do ourselves.definately one for the books and absolute joy firstly for Razieg and the whole team I take my hat off 😊 .
