For those who don’t know, we are proud to officially launch All Rounder Cricket Bat Services & Repairs, based at our All Rounder Indoor Cricket Centre & Shop

It’s been a very busy start to 2026, and behind the scenes, our workshop has been in full swing. Justin Gilliland, who manages our bat workshop, has been hard at work restoring, repairing, and preparing bats to ensure players walk out with confidence in their hands.

From full refurbishments to minor touch-ups, our focus is simple:

✔ Attention to detail
✔ Giving your bat the care it deserves

DAY 2 | The First Coaching Steps

Five months after the accident and following a long and intense period of rehabilitation, I came to a defining realisation:

If I could no longer play this beautiful game, then I wanted to coach it.

My coaching journey officially began at the Youth Cricket Academy in Port Elizabeth. I was very fortunate to be given an opportunity to join the coaching team. At the time, all regular sessions were allocated to permanent coaches, so I started with one session a week.

One session soon became more.

Through commitment and a genuine passion for player development, my sessions gradually filled up. I was privileged to work alongside and learn from some exceptional people, many of whom played an important role in shaping my coaching approach.

During this time, I also introduced Cricket Birthday Parties at the club, an idea that quickly gained popularity and became a huge success. It created a fun, memorable way for young cricketers to celebrate the game, and it’s something that remains a key part of what we still offer today.

As my involvement at the Academy grew, I identified another opportunity beyond coaching. I put together a proposal to the club to:
• Start a coffee shop/cafeteria (see pic of our first All Rounder logo)
• Help manage the facilities for functions and events

This was not something I could do alone.....

With the support and hard work of my mom, Amanda Hendricks, the All Rounder Coffee Shop was born, marking the first time the All Rounder name officially came to life.

What started with one coaching session a week was slowly becoming something far bigger.

Not every journey starts the way you plan it!
Before All Rounder Cricket Academy existed and before coaching, facilities, or a brand, my journey began through cricket itself.
While playing for Police Cricket Club in Port Elizabeth, I was offered a position in the South African Police Service. It was an opportunity that came about because of my involvement and performance in the game. I completed my 6 months of basic training in Pretoria and began working as a policeman, and continued to play the sport I loved.

𝗔𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟯, 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗱.

An unfortunate motor vehicle accident brought my playing career to an abrupt end. After numerous operations and attempts to return to the game, I was eventually given the difficult news that I would no longer be able to play competitive cricket.
𝗜𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗶𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝗹𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗮 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗵𝗮𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆.
𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝗻𝗼𝘄, 𝗶𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝘆 𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲.

If I could no longer play the game I loved, I made the decision to dedicate my life to coaching it and to helping others chase their dreams, to pass on knowledge, discipline, and values, and to give back to the game that had given me so much.
That decision became the foundation of what would later grow into All Rounder Cricket Academy.

This is where the journey truly began.

We running a Sports Kit Drive to support young people in our cricket and life-skills programmes across Heathfield Primary, Heathfield High, and our feeder schools.
