In an inspiring effort to bridge the opportunity gap and empower disadvantaged youth, a transformative CV Writing Workshop was organized by Agentz4Change, a not for profit organisation, on 14 August 2023. This workshop aimed to equip young individuals facing socio-economic challenges with essential skills and guidance to craft compelling resumes, opening doors to better employment prospects.
With unemployment rates disproportionately affecting disadvantaged youth, initiatives like this workshop are essential to help them overcome barriers and achieve upward mobility. Held at PPK (c/r of Hector Avenue & Hugo Road, Ottery), the free event brought together enthusiastic participants from Ottery, all eager to enhance their employability and realize their full potential.
The workshop commenced with an introduction from Nicole Bester and Bradwin Daniels, known figures in youth empowerment representing Cole Bee Foundation and Global Vision Transformers respectively. The workshop keynote address from Bradley Williams emphasized self-confidence among the participants. Many disadvantaged youth face systemic barriers that erode their self-esteem, and this workshop sought to counteract that by nurturing a positive self-image and fostering a belief in their own potential.
The workshop covered various aspects of CV writing, including structuring, highlighting accomplishments, and tailoring content to specific opportunities. Hands-on exercises enabled participants to actively apply what they learned, crafting personalized CVs under the guidance of Insaaf Ayana Isaacs from Agentz4Change.
Ultimately, the CV Writing Workshop was a resounding success. Participants left with renewed confidence, a broader skill set, and a supportive network. As these empowered youth enter the workforce or pursue higher education, their improved prospects will have a ripple effect, benefiting not only themselves but also their families and communities.
Agentz4Change remains dedicated to its mission of fostering equitable opportunities for all young individuals. Through initiatives like the CV Writing Workshop, they continue to pave the way for a brighter future, where disadvantage is not a barrier to success but a challenge to be overcome with determination, skill, and support.
